Seriously. I'm a bit annoyed that Asian hotels have been excluded from the promo and that Amex SPG users were excluded from the Asia specific promo! Looks like there's no love for Asia travelers using the SPG Amex.
I`m sure they will run a separate promo or at least i hope so. Over winter i just book a plan that get double points on stays every time which is something my hotel runs every winter which is cool however I`ll adjust my stays to avoid staying as much as possible during Q1 if there`s no promos. The joys of being a leisure Platinum!

Bummer Asia Pacific is out but i guess there is that Mastercard free night promo still running there.
Promo officially starts today. SPG.com/bythenight I can't say that this part of the promo's FAQ seems sensible... If part of my stay has an Award Night or a night using Cash & Points, will my stay qualify?No. Free Night Awards and Cash & Points are not Starpoints-eligible rates. Even if part of the stay is Award and part is paid, the member will not receive bonus credits for any part of the stay. I could understand if the bonus were based only the number of paid nights within the stay, but the blanket exclusion doesn't make much sense. I assume that it's a technical issue, but they ought to just offer to handle them manually upon request. I hope I don't have to rebook after registering for a promo. Pity they cap multiplication on a third night, would love to get 20x points on a twentieth night - Starwood doesn't love really long stays
No, you don't need to rebook after registering. Also... If I check in before January 9, 2012, or check out after April 8, 2012, does my stay earn the bonus? Yes, as long as one night of the stay is within the promotion period, double or triple bonus Starpoints will be earned on every night during the entire stay (even if part of the stay falls outside the promo window).
