This long suffering NY Knicks fan is extremely excited that my team is gettin' a lil' better.. I have 'em advancing to the Eastern Conference semi-final... Whose gonna win the '12 NBA title? Predictions anyone? I've got the heralded but hated Miami Heat emerging as champs- beatin the Chicago Bulls & defeating the OKC Thunder after they beat the LA Clippers.. Any thoughts? The NBA is back baby!!
Wow.. all these people.. so few, if any, NBA fans .. I guess interest will pick up when the playoffs begin?
I would be a NBA fan, but unfortunately I can't stand the owners of the team I like so I am pretty much ignoring it right now.
I don't think that I've watched a basketball in the last 3-4 years. Maybe and it is just a maybe, I will watch or even go to a game when the Nets move to Brooklyn. (I'd actually like to see the new stadium during the inaugural season, then I am prob done with going ever again!) I'll stick to following my pathetic Mets. At least we have a great foodcourt area behind the scoreboard!
Master Dolan will find a method to ruin his team even more. The biggest concern should be D'antoni's insistence on giving major minutes to his starting frontcourt. They could start to wear down in this absurdly shortened season.
as you know, we cleared the bench to help you fill the bench there in NYC so hope that works for you. But meanwhile, the no-name Nuggets are quietly collecting the experience to give things a run for their MOney. I'm stil thinking that the NEW LA team might be a real sleeper so reserve the right to cheer for the LA Clippers later on. Big fan of the guy who is no longer the rookie and thanks to "Davie" Stern, well, we'll see.
I can only assume there has been no interest in this thread since this season has been dull and boring. It is a repeat of the 99 lockout season. Pros cannot play a gazillion games in such a short period of time. They wear out and break down. The cretinous Dolan has allowed my beloved Knicks to play with an horrific backcourt and Mr. Petersen alluded to the "Trade". Melo is not a team player. The Nuggets are fortunate to have reaped the rewards of ridding themselves of someone who will never play on a championship team. I will conclude this rant. I need to coach kids basketball again. It is more fulfilling.
As I ( @NJdoc ) just posted a lil' while ago on twitter, "#Linsanity continues as Lin ties game @ 87 & hits BIG trey to win 90-87 after trailing by 12 in 4th qtr. Lin w 27 Pts, 11 Ast #Knicks"
The NBA has looked different since doc was kind enough to post 17 days ago. The Knicks are teasing me with their newfound ability to pass the ball and look for the open man. It reminds me of the Knicks of my youth when I sat in the last row of the Garden with my pals. I am sure Dolan will screw up the team before the trading deadline.
I love the Knicks (I wore a Ewing jersey under my gown at my college graduation), and this next stretch of games will really say what we can expect from them. I think Lin will cut down the TOs, and quietly average double/doubles, like we saw against Cleveland-- he actually had a very good game, but the second team took all the headlines (Steeeeeeve NOVAK!!!). They have several days of practice, and then a very rough schedule. If they finish the next 9 games with a winning record, that will say a lot about this team. They've got Boston on the road, Dallas on the road, the Spurs on the road, the 76ers, and the Bulls in Chicago. That game is key; while the Bulls aren't the heat (or OKC) they are an elite team. I'll believe the Knicks are a serious playoff contender if they can win these games. It's hard not to have the Heat in the Finals, though.
Today's game was frustrating. Terrible defense. The Knicks starter's continued inability to assist Lin when he is trapped is absurd. I have not yelled at the TV while watching a Knicks game in 13 years. D'antoni's rotations are confounding. Why did he not have anyone press Rondo and allow him to roll the ball past halfcourt before Pierce hit that tying shot.? How do you allow a point guard to grab 17 rebounds? Ineptitude. Not blocking out. Basics. The Celts have an horrible bench. If their starters have to play huge minutes in for the rest of the season they will be spent by the playoffs. Darn.
Yep! The lack of defensive pressure was puzzling The failure to foul, rather than allow the dagger trey from Pierce was puzzling The extremely poor last shot, coming out of a timeout, with 4.9 sec remaining.. was puzzling What can I say? .. other than yelling all these things at the TV at the gym while I put in time on the bike! I'm an idiot! At least my NY Rangers beat Boston today .. again! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
