I picked up 10 while I was there. They didn't say anything to me when I picked them up. Have another flight next week and will pick up some more. Whoa! I guess I could have grabbed more then I did. Will remember that next time.
I take 1/2 of what I said back. Went to all 4 DTW's yesterday and wife and I got 2 each at 2 locations and 1 each at other 2. Net for trip was 21 certs or 6300 points. Not bad for some "club hopp'in"! Hope they have some left next trip in OCT!
They expire June 2012. I had speculated in an earlier post (I think) that perhaps they'd stop giving them out one year prior to expiry, but that was just a guess. Any reason beyond guessing to think this little party ends in June?
Nice! Forget about long distance mile runs...MSP-DCA-ATL could yield 20,000 membership reward points if you work it a bit.
I'm finally getting points to post within 24-48 hours. They are still buried in other points credits, but they are appearing quickly now. I did a little hunting around, and it definitely looks like the vendor, in this case Delta, is paying for the miles. I found two other offers on the internet, one for 5,000 miles at the Essex House and one for 10,000 miles at Deer Valley, that also use the same website to redeem. So, I think it's safe to say that DL is offering these, at their expense, to encourage more Amex members to visit the lounges. This would be consistent with my believe that DL a per-visit fee from Amex for each swipe of the card. Here are links to the offers I found. They've both expired, but clearly share similar terms and conditions and would only be offered by a vendor trying to offer a sales incentive. http://www.jumeirah.com/Hotels-and-...5K-American-Express-Membership-Rewards-Bonus/ http://www.deervalley.com/amex
The email I got stated: "This May and June, earn 300 Membership Rewards points for every visit to the Delta Sky Club. Flying on Delta Air Lines has never been more rewarding, relaxing, or enjoyable for Platinum Card members. When you use your Platinum Card to access any one of the worldwide Delta Sky Clubs this May and June, you will receive 300 Membership Rewards points for each visit..."
Yes, you should. I ended up taking almost all that they had on display, leaving just a couple. On my first entry to the lounge last week, I asked if I could take more than one. The dragon said it would be fine, saying they had plenty.
I can tell you that I've heard this from the "horse's mouth" from numerous sources at Delta. They get a per-visit fee from AmEx when Plat cards are used for entry. And it's a pretty penny too.
I guess I'm just naive to some of the tricks for points and miles these days since I am in and out of Hartsfield in Atlanta weekly and have been picking up a certificate before each flight. The lounges here give them out individually and I enter them at home with the required card numbers and cert. numbers and get a email the next day that says the certificate is honored and posted. I did not know you could enter multiple certificates up to thirty or more and have them honored since I understood them to be linked to lounge visits and card number. Let me know if all thirty or more of your certificates are honored. I'd be interested, but still only inclined to take what I'm given.
I guess you could Henry, but I spend enough time in that airport as it is. Just curious though, have you actually gone to all the lounges in all the concourses in a hour something to collect these certificates ?
I'm pretty sure they are... it's been mentioned to be several times, including the SLC Sky Club yesterday where they gave me some extra coupons "since it's ending soon".
