I got to say, this is a BS promotion. You have to PRINT out a form and MAIL it in, and then send copies of receipts to an address and wait weeks for some gift card to arrive? Why? What's with the use of snail mail, printing forms and wasting my time? Why not have me chop down a tree, club a baby seal, then start a forest fire? What possible reason is there for IHG to run a promotion that makes it necessary to fill out paper forms, send them places with a stamp and then send paper proof of hotel bills to them? I mean they know exactly where and when I have stayed thanks to my Priority Club number, so what's with making us jump through all these hoops and over complicating everything with laborious and old fashioned procedures? And how do they send you $50? Via a telgram or carrier pigeon? Sorry, but there is only so much hassle I will go to for $50.
I gues some of us see printing a piece of paper and using a stamp as a worthy process to save the $49 after supplies/mailing...
I think the last line is the point. If you make it convoluted enough to participate, less people will claim a reward, or do it correctly. You are right, though: this is a very 1980s style promo
Same as previous promo for $75 last fall. They make it complicated and confusing, so I got only $75 as opposed to $150 from them and it was too much of a pain to fight them for it.
I just put too high a value on my time. If I have to print forms, mail them in, follow up, make copies, send more stuff... It's just too much to deal with. But hey, to each their own. I don't clip coupons either...
