I wasn't targeted, used link posted by _kurt above, and got the same response: "Please enter a valid account number"

Almost glad its turning me down- theres no way I'm gonna make top status this year in my existing two programs if I have to add a third hamster wheel into year end! ;)

I was targeted, but the link isn't even working right for me. Still waiting for it to be fixed as of this morning. I guess AAdv will hear from me again today ...

I was targeted and got the "is already in use" message. Then, I went into my HHonors account profile and deleted my AAdvantage number from their system. At that point, it let me register with my AAdvantage number. The registration page prompted me to create a new HHonors account. So, I am registered but under a different normal than the one I normally use. Hopefully they can be combined later?

Same here re targeted and "already in use." But I'm not willing to create new accounts and so forth. This is fast becoming way too much trouble.

    Calling Hilton had no impact?

I stayed at a Hilton last weekend and noticed that there we only three strips of bacon left on the buffet when I got there. Clearly that's because of all the extra "lite" elites that happened to choose the same hotel on the same day.

Jokes aside... It's probably impossible for us the determine the impact. It cold be positive or negative.

I was not targeted, but called HHonors to see if I could get in on the deal anyway. This was yesterday. The CSR told me that she had received a memo about the deal, and said that they could not add me as there were some technical glitches being worked out that were preventing them from adding the offer to accounts. She referenced this line in the T&C's during our conversation:

²If you’re already an HHonors member, please contact Hilton Reservations and Customer Care so your account can be updated to qualify for this offer.

I called back today and explained what happened yesterday. The CSR's have received a new memo telling them that the offer was targeted to get AA flyers who were not HH members, but that the communication did not happen as intended and various people got the offer or got wind of the offer. They have been instructed that if a person calls in and has the targeted code from the email then they can be added to the promo. If you do not have the code, they will apply an offer to award 2500 HH points on your next stay between now and 12/26/12. I went ahead and got that added as it is all free points.. I already have gold but it would have been nice to get it extended to 2014.

I see some comments about calling in above. I only called after some in other places indicated that they were calling in and having success. I typically will NOT call.

Call HH for just a few HH points? And no AA miles? Like it was said above, "this is fast becoming to much trouble"
    2500 HH points, and I have a bunch, is work about $18 - $19

    Why wouldn't you call?

This isn't a travel hacking secret or mistake fare that we don't want companies to know about and to keep on the hush hush. Individuals above who mentioned calling were speaking to members who indicated they were targeted for the promo but were having issues registering because they are existing customers. If one is an existing customer, the T&Cs clearly spell out that one should call Hilton to have the benefits applied as you quoted above.

Based on that being in the T&Cs, I'm not sure the information you got from the Hilton rep is correct. It seems clear this promo was not intended to be for AA customers who do not have HHilton rewards accounts, unless AA went completely renegade on this promo and threw it in without Hilton's consent. Which would be quite funny. :)

No, call Hilton to get the status applied to your account and qualify for the AA mile/HHilton point bonus if you're targeted on this promotion and struggling.

The 2500 HH points isn't part of the promo and is apparently what was offered to someone who called Hilton to get in on the promo when they were not targeted as a sort of consolation prize.

It actually seems rather generous to me if true since theoretically those individuals weren't intended to get anything at all to begin with.

I would still like to be targeted. Hint Hint, if we have a hilton lurker here. I had no Hilton stays planned by Nov 28th, but I will plan a few weekend getways at Hilton for gold extention to 2014 and 50,000 point plus 500 AA miles. If anyone figures out how to get in on this without having been targeted please PM me.

I called in and they (Hilton, at the above provided number) added this to my account with no problems, however they didn't ask for my AA FF number and I had deleted it from my account. I added it back on for good measure, I guess only time will tell! I love these promos...thanks AA and Hilton! I mentioned code QAA1 (from TPG's post).

I called HHonors as suggested by AmericanAirlines above. The rep just enrolled me in the promotion. Now since I have been HHonors Gold previously, there is no way to tell if my status extends to 2014 (previously only until 2013).

I asked about a confirmation email that I've been successfully enrolled in the promo- she says there's none, but she reassured that I have been enrolled. Should I be neurotic and call to check?

I just called Hilton and couldn't get enrolled. The rep kept telling me that I wasn't targeted. After giving her the code, the only promotion that I could get was the 2,500 points for one stay.

same here. The rep said it was targeted for new Hilton members.

finally got it applied to my account after the second call. I registered a new account and called in. After I gave the code, the rep said if I was targeted there would be a code in my account indicating that AA sent me the mail. Then she looked it up and found that my old account was targeted and the mail was sent out on 8/8. so she registered me and merged the new account to my old Gold account. Very interesting, no idea how that worked out.

My experience was almost exactly the same. I ordered a new HH card from the site (mine says blue member) and I seem to remember those cards having when you expire printed on them.

Sure, the lousy 2500 points for one stay. They said I was targeted, but it was an error, and they will not honor the Strike Gold offer. Not a very classy act IMO.

Seems like AA and Hilton have a miscommunication, or Hilton reps don't understand the promo. If you were targeted they should honor the promo.

I don't have any letters. Maybe that's the problem? (Maybe the web form thinks an AAdvantage number must contain both letters and digits?)
