787 Schedule Update

Hi Everyone,

As some of you have heard, there has been an unexpected delay with the delivery of additional 787 Dreamliner aircraft from Boeing. While many flights will continue to operate with the 787, this delay will result in some flights being operated by other aircraft in November and December. Specifically, here’s what this means:

· Our first 787 is continuing with pre-certification proving runs and is expected to enter commercial service Nov. 4 as scheduled. However, this year’s subsequent 787 deliveries are running behind schedule.

· This weekend United is updating our systems to reflect the different aircraft types flying in place of certain previously-published 787 flying.

· We will begin the process of notifying customers on the initial affected flights over the weekend, and will offer them the opportunity to re-book or receive a refund. These customers were given a special Reservations desk phone number to contact, which has been assigned to help them with this situation.

We’re just excited as many of you to introduce this 787 to our fleet, and we appreciate your patience with these unexpected schedule changes.We will continue to fine tune the 787 schedule, and you may see us make additional adjustments in the weeks ahead. To those of you whose travel plans are impacted, we’re very sorry for the inconvenience..

Praises be to the dear respected Supreme Leader for this generous change policy, without parallel in commercial aviation.

Glad you guys are allowing free changes; that's a great customer-centric announcement.

Even though I am in no rush to fly on the 787 and have a unfavorable opinion of United right now, this is a very classy move on UA's part.

Very nice move by United. I just noticed my SFO-IAH on 11/10 got changed to 762. No thank you. Will probably end up taking the refund even though IAH-EWR is still the 787.

Looks like IAH-ORD on 11/13 just got changed to a 762

It appears my SFO-IAH has been swapped to a 764 on 10/4 .

I was so excited to fly on the 787. And while I want a healthy intact airplane, I am entirely disappointed with the plane substituted on my itinerary. I am not able to get the refund either. Will have to look at my alternative flights.
Nonetheless, it is a nice gesture to allow changes.

Has anyone gotten the special phone number yet? I will be flying and would like to be able to make my flight change as soon as possible. Thanks.

Buffaloes can't be prescient (by nature) but unexpected would have been receiving the a/c without a hitch.

I got a change. I will try to call and change in to the Nov 7th 787 flight . If that fails there is december 5th . Anyone have the 800 number.

I now have a seat assignment on the substituted aircraft. No phone number it email yet.

The announcement is very much appreciated, Shannon. UA’s willingness and understanding about folks like and allowing re-scheduling trips or getting refunds is outstanding!

I'd try claling the regular number. Odds are they can deal with it.

I still wonder if anyone in this thread has gotten the email. I guess that you have not
