I just checked my account and new miles were added to my million miler balance that were not suppose to under the new rules.

Edited: Sorry, my bankdirect miles that were just added to my account today counted towards million miler; however, they are showing a post date of 11/30. This is the first time that has happened. The post date is always towards the beginning of the next month.

I had some BankDirect miles processed December 5, 2011 but posted November 30, 2011. I received the Million Miler credit for miles with a posting date of November 30, 2011 or earlier.

If all American Airlines partners post our miles using the November 30, 2011 date, American Airlines frequent flyers partner clients would be delighted.

Like you I am yet to get to 1mm. But the facts are simply this. At UA with zero, I would be 1mm BIS from LT PremEx. On AA at 600k, I am 1.4mm BIS miles from LT Platinum.

Now I know UA has recently slashed Prem Ex changing this argument, but anyone greater than 1mm from LT plat can make the argument now that they are further from the status than having never flown UA.

So this is definitely the super hard way.

I understand it is what it is, but to make it more in line with other programs I think they should simply state that the elite bonus on flown miles should count too. This way, it is still 1mm flying for either. Just my opinion.

Either way, I am reevaluating my flying for the next year and we'll see where we land. I do not like this change, but as I allude to above it is not the only change that needs to be considered.

Just checked my account and I'm 8500 short of 1MM. Does anyone know if I can still sign up for the Citi Executive Card and still earn miles through 2012 or is it too late?

If that is the sole reason you have to get the card, why not just fly 8500 miles? You can make that on your next long-haul round-trip or a handful of mid-cons round-trips.

I had hoped to get to 1MM by the end of 2011. Right now I'm 7 months pregnant and probably won't be flying again for a while...

In that case you won't need that status for a while. :) Congratulations on the coming addition to your family!
