After a smashingly successful pilot, Aloft Hotels will roll out its pioneering automatic check-in at five more hotels worldwide, it was announced today.

Aloft’s Smart Check-In, the hotel industry’s first such program, will let guests zoom to their rooms at Aloft Harlem, Aloft Brooklyn, Aloft Dallas Downtown, Aloft Jacksonville Tapestry Park, and Aloft London by the end of 2011. Smart Check-In made its debut at Aloft Lexington (MA) last year.

Tech-savvy Aloft is the sizzling style-at-a-steal brand from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) that’s rocked the hotel industry since launching in 2008. With nearly 50 properties now open worldwide, the brand has enjoyed the fastest ramp-up in hospitality-industry history. Designed to appeal to the digital generation, Aloft brings urban-influenced, modern, open, and vibrant design at an affordable price point.

Interesting technology. I like this idea a lot better than the self checkin kiosks.

Not a bad idea, if you don't care about what room/suite you are assigned.

It's an aloft. How may suites do aloft properties typically have? (hint..hint ;) )

You don't get suite upgrades, but as a SPG Plat, front desk staff always try to find me a quite room on the top floor with a nice view.

I've yet to stay at an aloft but your experience mirrors what other Platinum members have written.

Agreed. Forgot myself for a moment. My point is Lucky didn't like his assigned suite, and wanted another, and had to interact directly with staff, which goes back to my original thought that Smart Check-In might not suite suit everybody.

    Gotcha!

I agree. Personally I like interacting with the Front Desk staff. It gives me and the staff members an opportunity to get to know one another.
