Am I crazy to earn Skypesos at the expense of Aadvantage miles?

I cancel and apply for a new one - pretty much all cards are churnable and those cards generally have a bonus of some sort to sign up. The only time it may be worth the fee is for a card that has no sign up bonus - the only one I can think of at the moment is delta reserve, tho you do get the 10k mqms.

I do not think cancel and recycle will last for long, too many people are into what they are calling the churning game, I think the rules will change soon, anyone who got used to flying first class churning cards will miss those days.

To get back to the original question: no.

I'm mostly *A, but when I wanted to book a round-the-world trip, I discovered that *A doesn't do Hong Kong to Dubai with any graceful routing that could fit my schedule with availability. Therefore, I was glad I had BA to fall back on and booked HKG-DXB.

bingo, the KEY point, spot on !

I held DL for years & years while my primary was UA, eventually I found the DL tickets I wanted at the lowest tier. At some point they will come in handy.

Edited to add: now I find myself heavy with AA, so I'll burn some of those off. Having one's primary program but a decent cache in other programs lends great flexibility (plus it keeps one knowledgeable about other programs in case the grass does get greener)
