And to answer my own question, a letter confirming my Companion Ticket arrived today.
After trolling some other forums, it seems like +- 2 months are the norm.

Latest update in this saga.. I've been trying to book a companion ticket for the better part of two days, and it's impressive how little prepared SAS and DnB are.
    • Every time I've called, I asked if they actually could free up inventory for EBPs. If not, this entire exercise would have been a moot point. Every time they said yes, no problem!
    • Every time I called SAS, they asked me to call Amex Member Service. The number they gave me was different every time, and half of the phone numbers didn't work at all.
    • Every time I called Amex they asked me to call SAS
    • After a few tries, I got back to a CS Agent in SAS that remembered me.. She started researching, and after 5-10 minutes on hold we concluded that SAS actually had to book the ticket (even though their internal info states that Amex has to do the booking)
    • A few more minutes on hold while she researched how to actually book the ticket
    • Finally we were good to go, and I gave my preferences. A few more minutes on hold, and then I got the punchline: "Sorry sir, we can't free up inventory - you have to book regular EB-tickets".
Sooooo, I've spent almost all my free time between meetings the last few days to book this ticket, and in the end I had to give up.

Email the CEO of AmEx in Norway. PM me for his email address. This is just pathetic.

PM sent.. It should also be noted that most of the SAS-employees said that they "got an e-mail a few days ago", but hadn't been able to read it due to the high volume of informational e-mails internally. I'm quite baffled that they didn't do a 60-minute session to learn about the product and associated routines, specially since they are sitting on a queue designated for queries regarding companion tickets.

I read somewhere that that the membership fee is waived for the first year if you have an Amex card already. Does thsi also apply for international cards, or only if you have a Norwegain one?

I just used my CT as well, BOO-NRT in C for 130000 points and 1280 NOK this April is as the nice lady at EB booking put it: A hell of a deal :D

BTW: Booking was a breeze and the lady at EB knew what the CT was and everything was booked and seats reserved in 10 minutes time :)

Just want to say that for those of us who signed up when this card came (received in may11), and want to discontinue it, it's probably about time to think about cancelling. They want a written cancellation one month before it expires, or they'll automaticly make a charge on your card with the full amount of 1700NOK for a new year. (doesn't look like there's gonna be any discount for EBG's next year either).

I don't want to convince you to cancel it or anything, just thought I'd remind you since it's so easy to forget until suddenly you're charged for another round. :)

Just received my second CT, so definitely will not cancel the AmEx. I`m thinking PEK or PVG this time, or perhaps SFO if they open up two seats in C on that flight :D

Same here, got my second CT a few weeks ago. First one was used to book a trip to IAD (in C) this fall, taxes were about 900NOK for 2. This one was instantly used to book a long week end in NYC next spring (also in C) and taxes came at about 450NOK. Given the fact that I mostly use the AMEX in relation with work travel expenses, these trips were a pure bargain... I still hope to get the yearly fee covered by my company as well, but if not it is still an extremly good deal!

I ended up using mine for a trip to PVG this January in C. Total price 140000 points and 1002 Nok in taxes :)

Had to explain a bit more this time, as the rookie? at the EB hotline first tried to book me on LH, and she did really not get the CT bit... Still after some consulting her supervisor she finally got it :)

Still hoping for a co-branded Amex card in Finland. SEB are quite lousy with their DC cards...
