Interesting. Maybe I should loose my PP card? Please let us know if you can get in to US/CO club with this card.

I was just thinking the same thing.
So we call PP direct right? (as oppose to Amex)

Yes. Call PP direct. I am wondering if PP membership number will stay the same

I do intend to give it a shot the next time I travel, which is exactly in one week. I will definitely post the outcome here.

Yup, you have to call PP directly. As I had indicated, I had called to ask why I got the PP rather than PP Select card, and the PP agent I spoke with, who had a rather heavy British accent although I thought I was calling Dallas, TX, essentially told me to just count my blessings and go away, which I did after he said that the Select card was more restricted...

In my case, the number could not stay the same because I knew for sure that the card was stolen. I was at a meeting in Montreal when I left my meeting material bag in which I had put my travel organizer that contained the PP card with a friend. When I came back, the bag was gone because my friend was too busy on his laptop but he remembered an old Asian lady sitting by him, chatting a bit with him before walking away with a bag that he thought was hers since everyone had a similar bag (you know, convention bags). Anyway, that is just a long way to say that my card was stolen so they could not keep the same number. It was changed, which is why I think that it might work... Below is the PP card I got:

I noticed that the card in the pic is good trough April 2014.

Just curious, does anyone know if the Priority Pass Benefits end the moment you close your Amex Platinum?
Or does it stay valid through the PP expiration date?

My assumption it will be terminated. PP has your Amex card number so they can still bill you even though your Amex account is closed.

OK. Now I decided I would like to apply for the card with two supplement cards, one for my mom and one for my niece. However, there is another problem: Amex requires SSN for all AUs. Both of them are living in Canada and do not have SSN. Is there a way to work around this?
  8. NYCUA1K Gold Member

It seems that this answers your earlier question about whether to apply for the card in the US or in Canada, provided that they meet all the eligibility criteria in Canada...
  9. travelmi Silver Member

I would go that route. But it seems that no priority pass for Canadian cardholder. Also no $200 airline reimbursement

Hmmm... that's a tough one then. I think to get a US SSN one needs to also be allowed to work here...

    UPDATE:

Alright. Although I am a UC/RCC member and I also hold a boarding pass to fly in business on p.s. back to NYC and can get in that way, I decided to see if I can get into the UC/RCC in LAX with my Priority Pass card (there is a sign prominently displayed that the PP Select Card is not honored here). So, I pulled out my Full PP card and gave it to the agent, who took it without a change in his facial expression (good sign because it meant that it was business as usual), ran it through the scanner, and then added my name to a list that he had me sign. And that was it! He also handed me a complimentary WIFI access card. So, it is clear that UC/RCC does accept the Full PP card.

Caveat: On my way out to here on Thusday, I had gone to the JFK UC/RCC where I decided to get in with my UC/RCC card, but then I stopped to ask the agent if I could have gotten in with my PP card. She said that yes, as long as it was not the PP Select. Then the other agent who was there got into the conversation to volunteer that the PP card currently only works for UCs that used to be UA's RCCs. For UCs that used to be CO's PCs, not even the full PP card would let you in: PP cards are not accepted. Period. So, she speculated that the benefit might go away for the UC/RCC after March 2, when the systems merge ....

Thanks for the update. I had a big feeling it would work. I think the agent at JFK is wrong, because JFK United Club is listed as a valid PP lounge with the exception of PP Select.

The JFK UC is indeed fine for the Full PP members because it used be a RCC and NOT a PC, so it allows the full PP. The agent meant that the full PP is honored at UCs that were converted from CO's PC (I have never been to one except in IAH a couple of times)...

I don't think this is correct. According to prioritypass.com, the full version of PP works for the lounge in ATL, which I know was a PC, as well as five different lounges in IAH, of which surely most if not all of them were PC.

Unfortunately, I did not make a recording of the agent's statement, but I thinkt hat the way to find out what works and what does not is to do what I just did: Try it out. I know for sure that the my PP works at LAX UC (terminal 7) and would work at JFK UC.

Important clarification: We (the agent as well) are here referring to the PP card, like mine, that I obtained through a US financial institution. That is the one that's apparently not accepted in PCs. The full PP that one purchases directly gets you in all UCs, RCCs, PCs. So, you need specify which PP works at PCs in ATL...

Please read my post: I said the full version of Priority Pass, which is what I have, not PP lite that one gets for free. also, I believe that the clubs follow the PP access rules as stated on their website unless rogue agents are involved and in that case, no data about the behavior of one dragon on one day would be definitive.

Maybe you should have read the whole thread, which had been about the PP Select and free PP cards, so it was not clear which card you were referring to, even though you had said PP. I had posted a picture of my PP card. It does not look anything like a PP "light" card, and yet, the agent told that there are full PP-looking cards like mine that do not qualify because they were issued by a US financial institution. The whole exercise that I had related about pertained to the fact that I originally had a PP Select, which got lost, and when the replacement card came, it was a card that no longer said "Select." The question that TAHKUCT and others wanted to know was whether this FREE replacement PP card was as good as one that is paid for. The preceding series of posts related my experience with this FREE but FULL PP looking card.

I hope that brings us onto the same page.

FYI, the Hilton Amex Surpass card also has PPlite. (This is the Hilton Amex with the annual fee.) If you can't justify the Platinum, it may be a lower-cost approach if PPlite serves your needs.

Thanks for the suggestion! I am really looking for a PP select with option of adding AUs. It is more for my AUs than for myself althought I would not mind having the access. I am now considering The Ritz card as it is not an Amex card, so may not need SSN for AUs, but offering PP select and $200 Airline Credit (on any airline instead of just one). With the 50,000 point and no fee for AUs thrown in, it may justify the first year annual fee. I do have four chase cards already and the most recent was Jan application, so I am going to wait for at least 90 days to apply. I am fully aware and ok with moving my credit lines around to accomplish this.

    Another Data Point:

I am sitting in the IAD UC after using my "Priority Pass" card that replaced my lost PP select to get in. No questions asked, no surprised look or change of facial expression. I suspect that I had lucked out in getting this PP card as a replacement for my lost PP Select. It functions just like the top paid PP membership, but it costs me nothing and it is good until 2014!
