The only "good" part of this is it's a cargo jet. It would be way worse if it were a passenger one. Chances of the pilots surviving the crash is really low though
seems like they are already assuming that the lithium ion batteries that were on board could have caused it. ups 6 was mentioned in the comment section of the av herald story as having crashed due to the batteries igniting......its a sad day when lives are lost for no good reason like that.......
The speculation about the cargo came from media and outside observers etc., You're absolutely right, they dont have any firm evidence at all as to what happened. They're just going off the fact that the crew reported fire in cargo, then lost flight controls....so they are attempted to blame the cargo right now. I didnt realize lithium batteries could go in the cargo hold. I thought they changed the rules back when the UPS freighter crashed.
Didn't Apple send all of their laptops from China via Fedex? But last time when I ordered my digital camera from amazon jp, it did have a sticker saying it can't be sent by air on the package (probably due to the battery)
Another cargo plane on fire. This time is SQ and they made an emergency landing at OKA. I believe it's a 744F...not a good week for 744. Not sure what's the cause this time is though http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20110730/j1107301807081.html
http://nycaviation.com/2011/08/pilo...even-life-insurance-policies-a-month-earlier/ The pilot bought 7 life insurance a month before the fatal accident and the family is expecting $2.84M insurance payment...it's getting suspicious
