We took a ride with Beijing Sideways to the great wall via the birds nest stadium.

Go early and go to the end (we went left instead of right upon entrance on the wall). Near the entrance is packed with visitors. Not so bad up farther and we were the only ones (+ a couple of trailing vendors) at the very end of the open part of the wall.
