I think the best avatars are the "real" ones, either good photos shot by yourself, or created/photoshopped by yourself. Not just a result of some googling!

One of my favorites too!

Saw one of these at the Union Railway Museum last month. (could be where that pic was taken) They even have the CTA electric buses that went out of use in the early '70's.
