The built in Blackberry webbrowser on the Verizon Tour sucks. It has difficultly rendering many websites. However, MP works perfectly with it. I can actually use this website with my Blackberry and not have to resort to going to a dumbed down mobile site.
The BB webkit browser in OS6 is much better. That said when browsing on BB I prefer a slimmed down site (mobile FT is very good) apart from the silly restriction on number of posts per page
What silly restriction on posts per page? I surf the mobile FT on my android and still see 30 posts per page after editing the setting.
I can't get OS6 on the Tour. It lacks trackpad or touchscreen support I'm just curious which version of the Blackberry OS is on your Tour? I'm using 5.0.0.591. Verizon is showing an update is available for my phone, 5.0.0.732 and if you are on Sprint 5.0.0.1030 is available. Since the Tour came out, there have been several OS updates. Some of which, lets just say, the using the browser and how it rendered the pages was interesting at best so working or not working on the Tour may end up being a function of the version of the Blackberry OS.
Wikipedia does the same thing. That error is why I end up using Opera Mini on my Tour most of the time. Hopefully I can get an upgrade sometime this year ...
I have 5.0.0.732 (also on Verizon, alas) and it does not fix the "entity too large" problem. This is actually addressable on your corporate BES server, see here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com...HTTP-413-Request-Entity-Too-Large/ta-p/445983 If, that is, you can get your IT people to make the change ...
Since I'm the IT guy that shouldn't be a problem. I guess I should've bothered to figure out why it was happening instead of just be annoyed at it.
It now works on my BB, though it is painfully slow with large pages, too many images and too much other "junk" like the chat bar loading. Better as I can at least see the site, but it isn't a particularly enjoyably experience. And I'll be happy to reconfigure your BB server. I have quite reasonable rates.
That restriction is very annoying, especially when it comes to long posts! I'll have to try MP out on my BB, I've been avoiding it so far thinking it'd work terribly.
