I got the same email. If you look at the T&C, it clearly says that present or past card members are not eligible:

I got it as well. I'm for sure going to do this for the wife and I'll probably do it for myself. Let me know if you do it.

I tried my luck re-applying for this one after having had it the first go around and subsequently cancelling it last year, only to receive a 'Pending' message. Now I just looked at my account this morning, and it looks like they simply just re-opened my old account. I'm calling them later today to find out if this is what really happened. Somehow I don't think I'll be getting any more miles on this one...

I had the Chase BA card but converted it to a Chase Freedom card with the same number. I wonder how this would work for me.

Any recent feedback on how long the decision process is taking? I applied last week and did not get an instant approval. I have 2 other Chase cards, but I have not applied for a card for over 2 years. No issues with credit scores.

    Thanks.

No...not set in stone. I have got United Visa 50,000 in December, Contintental Visa 50,000 in February, and now BA Visa 100,000 in April. I guess I broke the rule if there is one. My credit score is 760+, no debt but the mortgage. I was approved instantly on the first app, waited for approval on the second, and initial denied (received letter stating 1)too many credit inquires recently 1) too many recent accounts opened. I called and voluntaried to lower my credit limited on the two other cards so that I could be approved for the BA Visa. The other cards were 16,200 & 13,000. So I reduced those to 10,000 each. Then I was transfer to another department. He said they can't too see a history of payments on my accounts and they were too new. I was little irritated since I just voluntarily dropped my credit limits and that was not really there issue. I had a previous long term Chase United Visa that I canceled a year ago to get the new one, so I told him to check my history with Chase and that I was a long time customer with excellent record of payment history. Never been late on my payments. I have no debt except the mortgage and I'm an excellent credit risk. He said he couldn't pull up that old account but would check my credit report for history of payments with Chase. He clearly found it when he came back and said he was recommended my account be approved with a $5,000 credit limit and I should receive some in the mail soon. Whoop! I am so happy! Thanks to all the tips from other FT'ers to be persistant and not count it a loss without a fight, especially is you have excellent credit. With a deal like this I would battle it out to get the approval. Only tip I would give is don't voluntarily reduce you credit limits. Let them suggest it or use it as the final bone to throw

I decided to try this tactic from travelinmike33, and it also worked for me!

Applied on on Saturday still waiting to hear back. I've gotten 3 cards in the last 6 months, one being the confidential, so I won't be surprised if I don't get it.

I already had this card a year ago but applied anyway knowing I'd probably get denied, and all they did was re-open my closed account for the previous card and send me a new card in the mail which I received yesterday. Was worth a shot :D

It would be interesting if they end up giving you the miles. Please keep us posted.

When do they usually charge you the annual fee? Is it in the first statement? I received my first statement unexpectedly today (was told it will be a month later) and I don't see any annual fee on it.

Just wanted to give people heads about about previously opened Chase BA VISA accounts. I closed mine over a year ago, it sat on my chase.com file for about 6-8 months, and then it dissapeared. I applied again, I did not use the same BA Executive #, and I was approved with a new Chase BA VISA credit card number, new credit line, all new card, they did not "re-open" old one. I do not know if points will post, but I will try it, it doesn't hurt to try, worst case scenario I will have to argue over $95 fee and get 11 months worth back instead of all of it...

I wanted to post this here as this used to work with United Airlines Chase credit cards. You could open a United Chase card, get miles, close it. Then open a new one, do not provide United #, get the card, get the bonus and merge your accounts with United Airlines by calling them up. It used to work, so may as well try it here with BA card. Not sure if anyone else is trying it, I will definitely report back if it turn into something good. It is worth a chance at another 100,000 miles.

    Cheers,

    PedroNY

I called an got the standard 2 week processing time for a written response. I ran out of time to call the lending services number. I will call tomorrow to try to tradeoff the credit limits on my other 2 Chase cards to the BA card if that is the issue.

I got a Chase United card last May and ended up having problems with them because it was my second Chase United card and I only spent the bare minimum to get the miles. They approved my application, let me spend the minimum and only then told me I wouldn't be eligible for the miles.

I have never had a Chase BA card. Am I still eligible or are they going to say that my prior history with Chase mileage cards make me ineligible for this offer? I'd rather not apply at all if I won't be able to get the miles.

If you are approved for the Chase BA, then you should receive the miles if you meet the spending requirements since you have not had a previous Chase BA card. I suspect that your United card said in the terms and conditions that only first-time users would receive the bonus. You are a first-time Chase BA user

I was concerned about this part of the application that was quoted earlier:

Chase cardmembers currently receiving promotional pricing, or Chase cardmembers with a history of only using their current or prior Chase card for promotional pricing offers, are not eligible for a second Chase credit card with promotional pricing.

Does seem to say that if you've done this before with a Chase card, not necessarily the BA one, you may not be eligible. My concern is that they'll approve the card, wait for me to make the minimum spend, then try to pull this like they did last time. Anyone have any problems with this in the past or am I worrying about nothing?

Can you contact them by e-mail or something and ask them to clarify whether you qualify or not? At least you have it in writing if they refuse to give you the miles later on

Many of Chase's signup bonuses are given after just the first purchase. I think that language probably only applies to those who make that first purchase, get the bonus and never use the card again.

I currently have 3 Chase cards, last one (CO) was received in February 2011 (Chase initially declined it due to 'many accounts with us', but I suggested to close one of my cards (amazon) and Chase rep agreed and approved my application). So, I want to jump on BA offer, but what are my chances? I don't think Chase will give an instant approval, and I don't really want to close any of my Chase cards. If it comes to negotiation, will they allow to have a 4th card with reduced credit limit?

Got a pending message. I called the lending service number and was told the application is going through automated system so for now they can't do anything. Is that the case?

I applied on April 20 and was not given an instant approval. I called the 888 number today to check the status of my application and was told that my application was still pending, but in the last stage of the review. There was no decision yet and I was asked to call back in a few days.
