Thanks for the kind words. I'm an iPhone guy myself, but a quick office poll shows UberSocial as the clear favorite for BB owners. As far as desktop clients go, I like TweetDeck, but as an enterprise user there's really no substitute for Hootsuite

I've got quite a bit of work to get done tonight, but rest assured all of the account additions will be added to the list with appropriate credit given. Thanks for all the support, comments, and likes!

Thanks for the tips, guys! UberSocial looks like it evolved from UberTwitter. I tried that before on my BB Tour, but wasn't comfortable with the app wanting to access my user data. I just installed UberTwitter, but I denied it access to a few things again. It seems like it requires more permissions to run than I'm comfortable with. On the bright side, one less thing to run my phone battery down, I guess.

I tied HootSuite a while ago when I saw some commercial entities using it. Seems to be working well for that type of user, and I continue to get emails from them about new enhancements they have.

I used TweetDeck before and I find HootSuite to be much better by far!

I have tried several different Twitter apps for my BB, and by far my favorite is UberSocial. It's far superior to HootSuite and Twitter for Blackberry as far as functionality and settings go. When UberTwitter went down a couple months ago, I tried the others, but I wasn't satisfied with the features or ease of use. Good thing they bounced back with UberSocial!

Great primer you have going there, I like it!

One thing you might not be aware of that would be worth adding as well (I didn't see it in there) is the list of milepoint forum twitter accounts: http://twitter.com/milepoint/milepoint-twitter-feeds/members

In the list are 54 twitter accounts that you can follow to get notices when new threads are created in your favorite forums.

I really like Seesmic and use it on my desktop and my Droid.

Also, in case anyone is reading this becaue they DON'T use twitter - the reason people use it can be explained by having you think about sending a text message to 500 of your closest friends. It's very hard to continue adding recipients. Thus twitter. You post once; all your followers will now see it!

Frankly I started using it because I had so many people asking me to text them competition results and faced the issue above. So now I just tweet it and it's easier on all of us. And it's become very useful as my job has me traveling much more over the last year.

Anyway, I've got 600+ followers and would love more!

For my Evo (Android), I use Twicca. I love the features and the design of it (nice and dark).

Thanks! It will definitely be an eclectic mix! And if you don't know anything about all star competitive cheerleading; you'll get the opportunity!

Dumb question. Can I send a message to someone not following me on Twitter. Today I started following DeltaAssist and wanted to send a message but could not.

Not privately. If you don't mind others seeing it you can post "@DeltaAssist blah blah blah" and they'll see it but so will anyone else following both of you and anyone who click on your twitter page directly.

Not a Direct Message but you can send an @message. Try typing: @DeltaAssist Hey I have a problem! or whatever. They will see it in their mentions. You won't be able to send them a DM till they follow you (and you follow them). Also, don't send any sensitive info in your @message since it can be seen publicly in your time line.

    EDIT: Ninja'd!

Great primer ... can you add a bit about the use of RT in tweets?

Is there anything private on Twitter? Can't you do a search with hash tags or @ signs to see all the related messages?

The only thing private is a Direct Message, which can only be read by the person you send it to. And any DM reply is read only by you. (but DM's can only be sent to someone who follows you) Put @name at the start of a message and it can be read only by people who follow BOTH you and the person you send it to. If you put @name anywhere IN the message, it's treated like a regular tweet, and anyone who sees your timeline can read it.

You can search hash tags, but it will bring up everything associated.
