Just a quick update before the weekend, the rates for three more SkyTeam programs have been added: - Aeroflot Bonus - Korean Air Skypass - Club Premier AeroMexico Cheers! ph
Excellent, Skypass is an option for those of us with ultimate rewards points, and one that is not as well-known to US flyers. Information about award fees and surcharges (even approximate or something like "this award may/will assess a fuel surchage") would be a great addition, but I think that may be quite impractical. When these fees can approach and sometimes even surpass the price of a coach ticket, they are definitely important to keep in mind!
Hi mattsteg, We've added another feature that I forgot to mention. If you launch your calculation from the interface in the sidebar (on the About or FAQ page) you can now filter the calculations by programs. I.e. just select the programs you're interested in before sending off the cities. This may give you a more relevant report and it significantly speeds up the calculations since the engine doesn't have to go through every program. We'll move this feature to main pages shortly, we're still playing around with the layout. ph
Thanks for the explanation. I really hope you can find a way to make it work. Without the alliance flights/rates, the site would be helpful as a starting place, but I would still need to check other places to find the true answer to a query. It would be nice to be able to get it all in one place.
Hi jeffbrownson, We are definitely going to try to get oneworld program rates in there as well. The system supports the logic we just need a bit of time to build a routes depository, so to speak. Rgds ph
Hi everyone, Filtering by program is now available in all searches. If you're not interested in calculating the rates of all programs you can now select the programs you want and create a custom list of programs. The engine will then only calculate through the programs indicated. You will get a more personalized report and the calculations will be significantly faster too. Cheers ph
One more small thing ... this may be useful for users from this forum since you all know your airport codes. You can now just enter the 3-letter airport code and you don't need to wait for and select the auto-complete option, ie. you can do this: - type "JFK" - tab - type "BKK" - tab - select programs (if desired) - tab - return Technically this is not really faster but it accelerates your data entry if you know the codes. Rgds ph
Hi everyone! Just a quick note to alert you to two changes on the milez calculator: 1) We revised our code line by line and came up with some significant optimizations, so that calculation results now appear on the screen much more quickly than before, even for routes that are being served by multiple programs. 2) You can now call up results simply via a hyperlink without having to go via the search interface. A link looks like this: http://www.milez.biz/en/list_rates.php?f=jfk&t=lhr You just need to adjust the f (from) and t (to) variables in the URL with the 3-letter airport codes to call up the results for a given route. The link above is for the route New York JFK - London Heathrow, or here is one for Munich - LA, or Tokyo -Sydney. You can thus either bookmark preferred routes or create links on your own websites to routes that you frequently look up. Cheers ph
We've made another data update: - Added OK Plus (Czech Airlines), including Sky Team rates and destinations - Added Etihad Guest even though there is a very small variance with the official Etihad rates due to slightly differing airport coordinates. - Added British Airways Executive Club oneworld rates. The oneworld destinations include the routes served by the alliance partners, e.g. the round trip rates for some flights in the US are as low as 9,000 miles: JFK-BOS - Deactivated Duna Club (Malév) Cheers ph
The following US programs have been update w/ more complete data: AAdvantage now includes off-peak and anytime rates Delta SkyMiles now has low, medium and high rates listed Dividend Miles has off-peak, low, medium and high rates Some transatlantic segments have very attractive rates, e.g. Amsterdam - Washington DC Cheers ph
Hi again, We have added some more Australian data to our calculator: - QFF classic award rates have been adjusted - Virgin Australia's Velocity FF has been added (including the partner destinations) - We have also added QFF Classic Partner rates which includes most of the oneworld airlines. www.milez.biz Rgds ph
More new programs added! - China Eastern - China Southern - Hawaiian Miles No longer do you need to figure out how many kms it is from one Chinese city to the next and consult rate tables to find out how many miles you need for an award flight, just type in the 2 destinations into our calculator: http://www.milez.biz/en/list_rates.php?f=sha&t=syx Rgds ph
Rates have changed today for Singapore Airlines (KrisFlyer) and Aerolíneas Argentinas Plus. AA Plus is now using a miles based system (rather than the previous points system), the new rates are much more in line with most other programs, e.g. Buenos Aires to Rosario KrisFlyer has new rates as of today, all rates, including the Star Alliance ones are now in the system, e.g. Singapore to Bombay Rgds ph www.milez.biz
Great initiative and idea! If you manage to figure out surcharges too, I see great use in this tool! I agree with Titans26 that it would be pretty useful to sort by least miles cost (ie, splitting the programs). Perhaps at least a function to sort either by program or by lowest miles cost? Alex
Hi Milefy, Thanks for your comment. We're working on the surcharges and also on point transfer functionality. Hopefully, we can add that logic soon. Re. splitting the results, it's actually a bit more complex than it looks and am not sure it really improves the legibility of the results. But we're looking at ways to make the tool better. ttys ph
We've added the rates of two more Star Alliance programs: Miles & Smiles (Turkish Airlines) and ShebaMiles (Ethiopian Airlines). There are now 11 Star Alliance programs included in the calculator. The main difference between these programs is mainly how they zone the destinations. Miles & Smiles, for example, zones Nigeria as part of Europe and North Africa, which makes flgiths from Europe to Nigeria pretty interesting: London - Lagos In the ShebaMiles program the Maldives are zoned in Oceania (!), this is likely an error, but flights from Australia to the Maldives, in theory, can be had for 40,000 miles. Sydney to Male We have also added the full gamut of the regular Miles & Smiles rates, this includes "capacity controlled" and "seat guaranteed" rates.
We have added Egyptair Plus to our global award rates calculator; we now have a dozen Star Alliance programs in the system: www.milez.biz All Star Alliance destinations are covered ... e.g. Cairo to LAX: http://www.milez.biz/en/list_rates.php?f=cai&t=lax Some of the Egyptair Plus zones are a bit vague so we had to fill in some blanks. We also tried adding the TAP Victoria Star Alliance rates but unfortunately the zone information from TAP is too spotty. Flying Club from Virgin Atlantic has also been added. ph
Hi all, Air China's Phoenix Miles program has just been added to our calculator. The program has three different award rate schemes for domestic flights, international flights and Star Alliance flights. There are now 13 different Star Alliance programs in the system. Air China flies to North Korea, so you can now figure out how many miles you need to get there: http://www.milez.biz/en/list_rates.php?f=sfo&t=fnj (from SFO) We have also brought the Club Premier rates (incl. SkyTeam rates) up to date (significant increase). ph
We've just added quite a bit of new data to our database so that your calculations and comparisons are even more comprehensive: S7 Priority: Both the Optimum and the Priority rates are now included in our database. Try the following route for an example: St.Petersburg - Novosibirsk JAL Mileage Bank: The domestic and international rates have been updated with JALCARD and the Discount redemption options. E.g. Tokyo (Haneda) - Seoul BMI Diamond Club has been re-actived, minus the Star Alliance destinations. Saudia's Alfursan frequent flyer program has been added to the calculator, including its SkyTeam rates. Saudia has many domestic routes in Saudi Arabia: Riyadh - Dammam SriLankan Airlines FlySmiles frequent flyer program is also new on the system.
