    You’ve heard it 1000 times…
“Pull the loose strap until the vest fits snugly. As you leave the aircraft, inflate the vest by pulling down firmly on the red tabs.”

But could you lead a couple hundred passengers through what comes next? Here’s your chance to find out! Bring a change of clothes and be prepared to get wet. The winners of this Komen fundraiser will have the opportunity to test their skills staying afloat!

We have 40 slots for people to do this activity at the CR Smith Flight Academy while their fellow-OWMDers look on.

Get to participate in a water evacuation. They might even heat up the water for you, but no guarantees!

DISCLAIMER: You MUST be ticketed on the charter to participate in this activity.

We'll take the 40 highest bids, with all the proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Minimum bid is $40. We don't have an exact time for the end of this auction, but we expect it to be approximately January 8th.

Keep an eye on the second post for updates on who has a winning bid.

I guess I will kick this off with a bid of $40.

(And for those of you calling me cheap, this is not my final bid, just one to kick start the bidding)

I'm in for $100. This may be the closest I get to a waterslide for a while. :)
Question for the Organizers: If I'm still in the fracture boot, can I gift it to someone else if I win?

Is it possible to know if this could potentially conflict with, or eliminate the possibility of participating in other events? I learned quickly from SMD3 that sometimes there can be lots of things at once. ;) As long as this doesn't conflict with other events, I am in for $50.

This does NOT conflict with other events. Each group will make the same rotation, some members of each group will get to participate in this extra activity, like the SIM time at Bombardier.

If another activity becomes available that you want to bid for that conflicts (which we don't expect), we'll work with you to reschedule and have someone fill your spot if possible.

You can gift it. We'll find out what the restrictions are on the boot, but I suspect if you can't walk without the boot you probably can't participate.

Of course, that would be like wearing a cement shoe and I don't carry a spare dry one around to change into. ;)

Ed - I’m in for $50. I see a visit to B&H coming up in my future, once back from London: will have to find a waterproof housing for the little video camera, just in case!

Sounds like fun. Put me down for $105.
As per MommyPoints, I wouldn't be wanting to miss out on other activities either - hopefully change rooms close by. Will it be indoors, and hopefully climate controlled, or au natural & outdoors, so hypothermia here I come unless I wear everything in my suitcase at the same time? Either way, we would have to carry our wet clothes away with us.

Leaving home in maybe 12- 14 days, so, will it be light summer single layer (read easy dry) clothing, or whatever we would be wearing for the climate in DFW?

Ok, just googled the Academy, & on google maps couldn't see anything that looked like an outdoor pond, so I guess it's indoors. Whew!

Not sure what you meant by 'au natural', but if it is what we spell 'au naturel' here in the states, the generally accepted meaning would force the event to become age-restricted, might necessitate selling spectator tickets as well, and/or make it illegal in Texas anyway. Not to say that it wouldn't generate even more interest.

Ah, not your au naturel, no sirree! No way Jose!
This is au natural, meaning a water landing in the outdoor environment as it would be in DFW.

Hmm. < deleted > this concept could have possibilities of <deleted> and <deleted>... What say, Pizza??

I'm in for $76. Put down b-hqb for $76 too, please. He doesn't have an account on Milepoint.

I subscribe to the one bid over theory of auctioning :)

I love all of you very much, but there will be no skinny dipping on my watch. The pool is supposed to be indoors and they have said they'll consider heating it up for us. No guarantees. :)

There are changing rooms nearby. And, if something conflicts with another auction you want to bid on (nothing planned at this point), we'll do our best to fill spots from other auctionees!
