With under a month until we are all enjoying SFO, it's time to kick off the party with some auctions... What's on the block? A signed, first edition of Banker to the Poor: The Autobiography of Muhammad Yunus, Founder of the Grameen Bank. It was autographed by Mr. Yunus to the original recipient of the book. For those who don't know, Mr. Yunus is the godfather of microlending and was recognized with a little known award (2006 Nobel Peace Prize) for his work in advancing economic and social development among Bangladesh's poorest citizens. From Amazon: Hardcover: 288 pages Publisher: Aurum Press; First Edition (1998) Language: English ISBN-10: 1854105779 ISBN-13: 978-1854105776 When does the auction run? The auction began when this point went live. Bidding will run until 23:59 MDT on February 29, 2012. What is the starting bid? Our gracious donor informs me that similar books have fetched as much as $1,000 at auction, so with that in mind I will start the bidding at $100. Who can bid? Any MP member is welcome to bid. How do I bid? Bidding may occur in one of two ways. First, you may post your bid on this thread. If you want to re-bid, you MUST do so in a new point; editing posts to change your bid is a no-no and people caught doing so will be required to make loans as penance. Second, understanding the potential desire for anonymity with such dollar amounts, you may start a conversation with me and I will then post the bid amount on the thread with no name attached. Similar to the posting rule, if you wish to change your bid, you must send me a new message. Editing the original conversation message is not ok. What payment is accepted? Payment may be made through PayPal or in-person at the KivaDo, where credit cards and burlap sacks (preferably with '$' on the side) of cash will be accepted. Who won? Stephen at $300
I should not be able to win this raffle for such a ridiculously low price. The Nobel edition usually sells for $200 or so and this one is a First edition, usually less widely found than the Nobel ones. Please bid. The price should be higher!
I will bid $300 And wow that antonov is cool in your avatar! I always loved that design but thought it was very limited in use (and it is) due to little need for it outside of Serbia region or other vast unimproved areas.
That is a very common sight at NCE, where the owner has a house in Saint-Paul. The interior is also amazing. I love it, but it is a maintenance hog and is very fuel-inefficient too.
I messed up and forgot to put a note on the transaction, especially important since my paypal ID is totally different than my email or name here: Confirmation number:2GP17607BW1225819 Thanks
No worries, we trust you! In fact, you are prob one of the biggest contributors with all your wins, so thank you very much for support of the MP KLT Mutual Fund!
