Club Carlson-branded credit card coming next year SOURCE: http://www.businesstraveller.com/news/club-carlson-branded-credit-card-coming-next-year
Great news uggboy! I just hope this landslide of CC pts doesn't mean were headed for a huge devaluation of the pts. Time will tell...
Yeah hope so too... and knowing CC they will probably give you 1k points per dollar spent or some ridiculous thing like that... I'm definitely in there.
Hopefully no annual fee! That's the great thing about some of the hotel cards (HH Amex, Choice). I really don't want to add any more annual fee cards . . . Need to look at canceling some as it is before the next waive of fees come due.
Maybe they will be like the Choice Privileges Visa and give 2 points per dollar on everything. Hint, hint
Yes, a lot like the Choice with 2 pts per $1 and no annual fee would be great. Or even the HH Amex, no annual fee and some great category bonuses, like the 6 pts per $1 on gas, etc. Hope someone from Club Carlson is reading this thread . . .
How much do you value one CC point at the moment? I haven't really looked into that, being a new member and all, but it seems that's ultimately what matters when looking at the number of points earned with a given card.
That matches roughly my HHonors valuation, so I'd hope for 3 points/dollar to match the HHonors Amex basic rate.
Not sure about flyingdawg's reasons, but they have a bit of a bait and switch reputation where they offer two types of a reward card with different features and bonuses. You apply for the one with the big bonus and they evaluate your application and then for whatever reason give you the other less valuable one without seeking your agreement (well, the application fine print says you'll agree to it).
I have two cards with Barclay's right now and have had others with them before. And I have had no problems with them.
I've just got the Choice Visa from Barclay's. So far no problems, but my first statement just closed and I'm waiting for my choice points to post, so I guess we shall see.
The olde BoA Goldpointsplus card with 4 pts per dollah was a great card for racking up Goldpoints, if that was your need. I was sorry to see that go. I'll be in on the new card when it comes out.
I think it I had a Barclays Northwest Airlines branded cc and had am awful time with their customer service. Simple things like changing billing address and getting credit for points was a constant problem for months on end. My problems may have been the exception and not the rule, so I would give them another chance if I had to.
That was originally true of the US Air card but Barclays changed their policy and now give full bonus with any level card. Barclays is wonderful for 2 reasons: 1. The only cc company that only pulls Transunion nationwide. Most of us have way too many Experian pulls. 2. Barclays cards are churnable- you can even have two identical open at once.
You're correct is was a US Airways branded Barclays. I guess I was churning a few cards at the time and got confused. Anyway, I'd give Barclays another shot especially if they've got their act together as you indicate.
