Continental Flight Crews still think they are Continental

And from the sCO side, this meal is also a major downgrade from what would have been served on a route of that length before the catering was overhauled. Both sides lost on the catering alignment in many cases. I'm seeing far, far less variety on sCO flights - which used to have menus that changed every month, and were on a quarterly rotation - and there are a lot of flights that used to be identified as a full meal that now show "snack." Yes, CO had that particular meal in the past, but it was a lunch option, or on some shorter dinner flights, like IAH-IND. The entrée options on flights over three hours in length were significantly better, and served with a green salad, bowl of soup, and roll (which I've never had one that was "inedible" or stale).

I haven't either, but then again, I have flown UA/CO 0 EQMs this year. By the end of next week, I'll have flown about 40K EQMs all to/from places where UA goes. My blood pressure thanks me. :)

Because this is a different place than you are used to, and there's no thread merging going on here, and people can start whatever topic they feel like starting. They don't need anybody's permission or approval to discuss a topic even if it's the same topic over and over again. And there's no moderator to complain to to get them to merge a thread if you don't agree with it. You just have to let them speak anyway they want to here.

And there's a reason why the same topic about United is being repeated over and over again.

And complaining about the people that post about it isn't going to change them or stop them from posting, it only creates more friction between different factions, which is ridiculous if you ask me, but that's the way it is. And just pounding people into the ground every time they bring it up isn't going to stop them either. When things get better, they will start to stop, but even then people are going to remember for a long time (decades?) what it used to be like and they will invariably continue to make those comparisons. No amount of brow beating is going to stop it.

Frankly, I think it's counter productive in most cases to compare what we have now with what used to exist. There is no more PMUA or PMCO anymore. It is what it is. Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, if you are on either side of the fence at all.

At the end of the day, there's a lot of people that are going to continue to have a different opinion than you or I have. And you know what? They are entitled to be able to express themselves here.

Now, what I'd like to do is to figure out how to have a sensible conversation about the issues without being brow beaten or told we're being "stupid, stupid, stupid" and nonsense like that. There has to be a middle ground somewhere where people are free to make their points without putting others down because they think they are wrong or just don't think the same way somebody else does. People are going to miss what they had. We can't change that. And I don't think it's exclusive to one side or the other, if there are really still sides. For example, why do we think there are still sides? Most remaining barriers (except for important crew issues, contracts, etc) between the sides were removed on March 3.

Just like we discuss PMco and PMUA, this board is capable of discussing MP and FT. Both boards have the same reputation (these days). IMHO.

I'm not drawn in to any infighting here. I think these boards are a place to post experiences and opinions. Others were posting theirs, so I posted mine. I want to be clear:
    - I don't feel cheated by UA
    - I'm not starting petitions or suing them
    - I wish they would change some things, but in the scope of my life it's a very small part of what I think about
    - I am thankful for the perks they give me for sitting in their seats for almost 3 straight night and day weeks every year (one time I actually added up my flight hours!) That's a long time to "hang out" on a UA plane lol.
    - No matter what used to be/is/will be...that was still a nasty meal. I have no angle on it, just showing my MP friends a recent meal I got. It was bad. But my expectations of airline food are very low to begin with. UA has now pushed that envelope further than I have ever seen before (negatively). But I fly alot outside the US, and so I get used to seeing better quality premium cabins/lounges/service/crews. The only bummer as a patriotic American is knowing we are like 2nd world status when it comes to our legacy carriers.

So there you have it! United can choose to be what it wants to be as an airline, and the world can choose how they value united in return. If they do it well, their planes will be full and they will make money. If they do it poorly, they will be hated and maybe lose money. Oh well, I'm rambling now. Good on ya.
