That is much better. Hopefully there will be at least a week's notice when the clock is turned back on before the earliest expiry. It would also be good if Kiva can make some announcement on the site and on the repayment emails about the late loans.

joined you on that one! I had lent to as many loans issued in Nov as I thought possible, so have been looking at the Dec and newly released ones now.

The oldest loans just aren't budging at all at the moment. I was trawling thru the November loans today, and boy there are a lot of loans out there with a lot of funding needed. These loans are at very low % funded and they tend to be larger.

very true, it seems that of the ones that I have lent to and are still fundraising, the ones listed before Nov 15th have the largest amounts to go! Only one, Lowenda has been on the Most popular page and I think this was helped when Mr. and Mrs. Horseguy posted and Randy and I lent to her!

Perhaps we can set a strategy where we try to have people post that they are looking to lend and we match up with those needing assistance in order to push them into the Popular List. Depending on the time of the day, two or three lenders will make them go to the front page. It does take some coordination but hopefully the extended deadlines will give us a chance to test it out. Repayment time may be a good time to do this!

Repayment day on the 15th should be a bomb day to clear up the oldest loans.
I pledge all 15 of my repayments.

I think the best strategy is to all pile onto one loan to push it to the top and let others finish it off. The LLL strategy seems to push the hardly funded loans onto the top 4 pages and from what I have been observing is you need to have it in the top 4 loans on page 1. That way at least those people who don't really care who they are loaning to will click on it and it will get some easy hits.

I would also prefer if we could pick on the loans that are at least 50% funded. I think the more we can kill off the better.

I think that it is a good idea to finish up loans that are already partially funded that particularly try for the really unpopular ones. By finishing up as many loans as possible, more loans get funded and fewer are refunded to the loaners.
The way I see it.... better to finish off a bunch of loans needing a small amount of money, than to try to get one $3000 loan funded...

    but YMMV :)

Sounds like a plan and I am in I am also willing to commit funds before repayment if necessary!!! Should we consider these criteria:
loans listed before Dec 1, 50%+ funded, less than $500 to go (or is $500 too high).

I think that would be a good starting point. I can't see the point in putting all our efforts into loans that require $2k+ because it will be a struggle to get too many done.

As for timing, my thoughts are that we need to do it when the loaning frenzy starts after repayments because that seems to be when more random loans happen. If we can get our loans to the top, one at a time, once there is only $50 or so to go we can leave it and move to the next because that way it should fall near the top of the list of Amount Left and those seem to get cleared up regularly.

Just to be an even more demanding customer, Is it possible to list the loans by repayment term? Personally I know that I will only be loaning to November loans that are going to be repaid within 14 months as I will need to get some of my money out of Kiva by the end of the year.

How will we decide which loan to attack first? Will we have a list to work from to maximise our efforts?

I'm West Coast and a late riser so anything you East Coaster the effect will dissipate by time I drag my carcass out of bed.

I color-coded them and added the # months for repayments. Most repay at 14mo or less. There are 7 loans <$250 and 13 more <$500.

I think it would be feasible to knock off the 7 <$250. We would need 3 or 4 lenders to hit at the same time - lets say 12noon-5pm PST (I think this will capture most timezones) to get them to the top page and hopefully that would be enough to get others to crowdfund them under the popular page.

Two step process -- first, we need people who agree and have time to fund the loans within a small time frame; Second, once we get a list per loan, they can set a time to lend and push it to the top.

I have not loaned to any of the 7, so I am willing to lend to all of them.

Sounds like a plan. I'll go thru the list of those less than $250 and work out what I have not already loaned to and who meets my qualifications. I had a quick check and I think there were about 3 of them at least I would hit. I'll need to double check tomorrow when my brain is actually functioning.

Are we going to wait for repayments?

BTW thanks for the excellent work in compiling this list. With any luck some of these loans might get a few hits overnight and decrease the amounts owing. I checked earlier today and there were still 481 November loans outstanding.

All I can say is that I have to wait, cause I otherwise don't have any money to loan.

I don't see any point in waiting for repayments, if one has funds to loan now!;)

After all, the goal is to get these loans fully funded, so the sooner the better, as there will hopefully be more expiring loans that will meet the 'under $250/$500 left' critieria set forth, and then focus can be shifted to those loans!

That said, I also need to wait for repayments before I can assist in the cause!
