I'm on board Delta 2372 TPA - ATL. The flight is the poster child of capacity reduction. 763s used to be common on this route, now I'm on board an MD-88. At least the TPA ground team managed a very quick turn. (and hooray for free milepoint with GoGo.)
I guess it was a bad example anyway, given the way Mr. Kelly gutted the RR program. Briefly visiting the T club as the DC-9 to HSV leaves out of T5. Struck out again on a Porsche ride, I'm now oh for a whole bunch.
RR was never an attractive program. No opportunity for particularly desirable redemptions. I suppose mutual respect means no one can win...
Rangers games (especially against that team from the other side of the Hudson) are bad for my liver. Especially when I am getting a new beer handed to me every 15 minutes of real (not game) time.
My favorite airport and flight was when I flew out of the Chonamara (Connemara) airport (NNR) to Inis Mor in 2010 on Aer Aerann Islands. I was picked up by a van in Galway where I was waiting on the side of the road. We stopped to get the mail, packages, and newspapers. Arriving at the airport, I helped unload and then proceeded into the "terminal" to watch the safety video in a combo TV-VCR. Checking in consisted of the van driver waving me over, printing out a receipt, and directing me to stand on a scale and get weighed. No security here either. Then the other pax and I wandered out on the tarmac to the plane (a nine seat Britten-Norman Islander) and boarded. The ground crew and baggage handler was the driver once again. The flight was eight minutes long with an altitude of 550' where it seemed that we were skimming the surface at times. Landing at the Kilronan airport was a treat as it is just over a quarter mile long and the approach makes use of headwinds for a quite rapid descent.
Greetings from the club in DTW. On a short layover headed to DCA. Meetings today and tomorrow on Capitol Hill, then back to MSN. Flew in mad out of MSN because the fare was half what it was out of LSE. Spent the night at the Hilton last night then drove to airport early this morning. On the way to the airport, the clutch on my '98 Formula 350 gave up. Managed to nurse it into yhe airport parking lot. Need to figure out what I'm going to do when I get back at 10:20 tomorrow night. Need to be in Minneapolis by 4PM on Thursday for the grand opening of our new store up there. Just not my day.
Hi all, update on the SEA thank you DO event, including DISCOUNT TRAVEL RATE from INTL destinations to Seattle for the event is available in the thread: http://milepoint.com/forums/threads...-they-depart-to-new-centers-see-inside.34762/
A half hour out from SEA, a stay in the GH SEA, and dinner booked at McCormick and Schmicks is an indicator of a good day. Three new airports, four new lines already today (ANC-JNU, JNU-SIT, SIT-KTN, KTN-SEA) as part of the DL award ticket. All three remaining flights home from SEA have already cleared on the award.
There are ten total segments in the award, issued over two ticket numbers: 1. BNA-ANC: (BNA-MSP-SLC-ANC) 2. ANC-JNU: (ANC-JNU) on Alaska 62 3. JNU-SEA: (JNU-SIT-KTN-SEA) on Alaska 62 with embedded stops. DL.com would not give me access to AS 62 for "ANC-SEA". 4. SEA-BNA: (SEA-SLC-ATL-BNA)
Well that's fantastic, mom got laid off today. Of all times this would happen the week before I'm done with high school classes.
Is it a bad sign that I decided working in the AS Board Room this afternoon would be a better option than working in the super new SEA SkyClub?
Enjoying some quiet time at the DCA SkyClub waiting for the return trip to Msn thru DTW. It was pretty crowded, but things have cleared out for now. Looks like I'll deal with the car problem tomorrow. Not sure how that is going to work. Needs to be done, so it will get done. Hard part will be getting the car towed from MSN to a local GM dealer to have the work done. Tomorrow is not going to be pleasant.
I don't know how the printing works here - might need to stop into the SC to undertake that function.
If you have AAA (or equivalent through your insurance company), would you not get the same towing allowance in terms of miles? While you might get stuck paying for the truck to "park" during the hook-up time, I'm certain that airports rather frequently have cars that simply won't start when other passengers return.
Good afternoon from the fully-functioning F SkyClub in ATL. So far, quietest place to hang out is on the third level (there's a staircase to the right when you walk past the reception area) - very nice views of Concourse E from up here. And free champagne today to celebrate!
I think you are correct. I have up to 100 miles with AAA. The real issue is simply the delay getting the tow on-site. I've decided to rent a car tonight so that I can to and from the hotel. I'll meet the tow at the airport and get the car to the dealer. Then I have to beet feet to Minneapolis to host the opening party for the new store. Friday, I'll have to drive back to Madison to turn in the car and hopefully pick up the repaired car. Then, I can drive home to La Crosse and get all the other stuff done that needs to be done. Fun.
