Nice... I'm going to wait in case Grand Slam finally shows up, kill 2 birds with one stone. But it's obviously a fantastic promo, and I'm surprised they're running again this year so close to the last time they did it.

Thinking about the minimum spend on the Sapphire card - do these mile purchases count as travel and get the extra 1 pt/$? Maybe a better question for the CC forum, but thought I'd start here to see if there's info based on the previous promotion.
Wait wait wait... what are the restrictions? I already purchased a boatload of miles a few weeks ago when they had the same promo. I don't see anything that says I can't buy more... or that I can't buy 50k then buy another 50k. Or is there a restriction where it says you can only buy up to a certain amount in a calendar year? I perused through the fine print but didn't see anything like that.
Says pretty clearly that the max for this offer is 50k. So if you want more, gotta open another account. But should still qualify even if you've bought during previous promos.
How safe is this? It seems like US want cash now and have to pay for this sometime in the future when members are redeeming. Can they afford it?
Indeed... and considering how frequent the promos are, I wouldn't be worried about getting stuck with the miles. Just buy what you need and use them by booking with a partner and call it a day.
FYI: I've posted this elsewhere so I'm adding it here - unless you intend to spend the miles before September, I would wait until Sept 1st to buy/gift in this promo. There's rumor (and usual wild speculation) of a US Grand Slam partner promotion. Buying/gifting is usually one "hit" in the promo and the previous Grand Slam promos have always begun on Sept 1st. May as well wait if you don't have an urgent need to book in the next 3 weeks.
