Ouch! I guess money (or points) does not bring class or common sense!

It was a USA - Australia flight, so who knows -- but as an American I fear the passengers in question were probably from my country. My clue: they needed extra-large size :(

I can't really believe that they wouldn't have been offloaded - doesn't it cost a lot for the airline to delay departure 30 minutes - possible missed connections, etc.?

What was Qantas' choice? Once they refuse to fly and leave, they have to take the bags off. And the airline probably would rather take a delay and get these idiots off the plane than risk a problem inflight.

These two DYKWIAs should've been allowed to leave the plane..... AFTER it took off. :D

yep...... unfortunately they were deboarded before the plane left (hence the 30 minute delay) but the frosting is
"The pyjama guy apparently told the crew: "Make sure you tell everyone why we're so late: they didn't have pyjamas for us." - with his delusional thinking that this would get him sympathy:rolleyes: It takes all kinds...... next time maybe they should take a ship - then they could bring their own and not worry about fit!!!

What I did learn is that Qantas has pj's in C - nice.

The article was clear on this. "Other passengers were unaffected with the flight touching down in Melbourne this morning on schedule," the spokesperson told The Herald Sun.

I'm pretty sure they were the first to offer them in J...going back to [2006], if not earlier.

I would've thrown a fit at these pax instead. Delaying an aircraft for something that can be compensated in their home base is without a doubt the stupidest reason ever in my book.

Did anyone see the thread already started in the Qantas section:

"Qantas Didn't Have My Size PJ's in First So I Took A Later Flight. What Compensation Should I Request?"

I guess the trip to Oz wasn't really that important to them.;)

The Herald Sun lets your fellow-citizens off the hook. The pair are identified as Australians.

In other words: "Tell the other passengers that we think it's your fault that we're such insufferable jerks."

I learned the verb "spruik". :)

but this article was posted after my comment, hence at the time I thought of the possibility of missed connections

To be all honest, I wouldn't be so dramatic to delay the departure and disembark, but for sure I would've protested and demanded compensation ... after all revenue flight in first class between LAX & MEL can cost $10K or more and to expect beanies as promised isn't that out of the ordinary.

One would think the lost time to those two idiots should have been worth much more than a pair of pajamas. I understand asking for some kind of compensation after the flight, but who in their right mind wastes the time of boarding and then deplaning over pajamas. I assume their destination must not have been that important to them.

Frankly, once (*) I am in a position to drop $10K on a flight to anywhere (other than the moon, I suppose), I really hope I'll not get bend out of shape when something like this happens to me. batman happens.

What's the appropriate compensation? A Fedex delivery of a new PJ in my size to my home address?

(*) always the optimist... sunny day here... life's better without getting too upset about minor things.
