Very cool. You have at least another year before, "Can I have the car keys?"

If I had said "Hell no, I'm not flying coach" to my parents when I was 15, they would have left me at home. If I said that to them now, they would reply, "Neither are we!" :D And they say that people mellow with age!!! :p

Well she got the upgrade this morning as our flight left chicago at 5am. Typical gate agents claimed first was full and of course it wasn't. the FA moved me up to 1st after take off and even refunded my bloody Mary charge

Our flight landed 30 minutes early so I got her to school right on time. :)

Two tidbits i learned from a check-in agent today.

    1) each station is now graded on kisok check-ins vs. agent check-ins. Even if they know the kisok can't help, they need to try it first. overall negative news, but it appears very similar to what UA/CO have been doing for a while. I love the agent check-in as they can tell where the plane is arriving from and generally give me some color on whether we're expecting an on-time departure.

    2) software enhancements in November where the agent can see the customer's status sooner. Today, i had an agent pull-up my reservation, put me on a different flight, and then asked me how i was going to pay for my checked bag. She immediately apologized after seeing my status but promised this would be fixed soon.

Are they gate agents or dragons now?

I'll still have to call them gate agents. They were extremely nice as they were blowing me off :)

So, it seems US's flight crew meant to operate US 741 MAD-PHL today can't tell time, they arrived at 12:30 for a 12:35 scheduled departure !

kwidhalm is now stuck at PHL security and not feeling the love from US on her MR this weekend. :(

All I can say Boat is that we were supposed to board at 11:40am and nothing happened. Then at 12:10 the GA went on the PA system to say that the reason that we are unable to board is that we had no crew..............PILOTS OR FA's! Then at 12:30pm we looked to our left and it looked like a scene from "The Right Stuff" walking towards us. I wanted to "boo" them but was told that I should wait until we landed in PHL. :D Needless to say, so many people missed connections. It took 50 minutes to get through customs and I was a lucky person with just a carryon so I hauled a$$ from A to C and walked onto the plane........barely.

At I think $100 for 4-5 years it's an easy bargain for US people.

(I could qualify if I enrolled in Privium, but at an almost EUR 200 per year cost, I remain very principal about it, FF'ers should not be turned into cash-cows by ancillary fees/services to fix broken issues)

Thank goodness that they didn't "time out" because of their lateness. Did the FAs make up for their tardiness by having an extra-special meal and beverage service throughout the flight?

I had that once AMS-PHL, sick FA delayed us a bit, but most of the crew was already there and they kept us updated.

A year later I talked to an FA when we were delayed because of the inbound being delayed due to de-icing for over 3 hours. She told me management had instructed them not to serve extra alcohol and such, they would need a very good story, and delays such as "this one" weren't allowed. She could've been full of it, but at the time all discretionary and/or empowered actions by all levels of staff were scrutinized tremendously at US, it's part of the reason I left...

Oh how silly of me to forget that this was a US operated flight instead of AF or even LH

Well, I must say that I have pretty much had it with US Air. I have requalified for *G status through 2013 so I have decided to take my business/wallet over to United regardless if I never get upgraded. I already have 35K miles booked through Q1 2012 one of which is a flight to HKG on United anyway. Thanks for the memories US. It's been real!

For me, UA has been quite irritating, especially when I have to instruct the gate agents as to how to "part 121" my ticket over to US as UA's aircraft somehow fail to make it to PVD (which is another situation as it seems to me at least that for passengers in outstations, UA seems to not take as much effort as it would with a more "important" station to try to work with the stranded passengers).

We'll probably see a lot of stations get better or get worse for a while. A guy I know is pretty pleased with CO from PVD though, but it all comes down to the staff in the end. And not being able to help you, but being very up-front about it beats not wanting to help you any day in my book...

Very true, because it is very easy to tell the difference when someone wants to help you, but can't and someone who could help you but won't.

CO has been very good to me, but I'm not sure how the whole merger will work out as they have consolidated counter positions into one area (along with AC).

All in all, I would just wish that for IRROPs, the ground staff would be a little bit more forthcoming with information so that we (as passengers) can either start preparing for a slight delay or a cancellation and rebooking, as it does pose a hassle, especially if you are expected to be at a given place at given time.
