The list that I received in online letter, did not even say that Whirlpool Bridge has an iris scan on the Canadian side and directed me to Peace Bridge which is about 20 miles away. However when I asked about an Iris scan, was directed just across Whirlpool Bridge (toll-free) :)

As of last Friday, 9/30, one GE machine is in the YYZ T1 US Pre-Clearance area.

There have been two GE machines at the totally re-configured area at YVR US pre-clearance (that was as of about two months ago).

Solid point, on having to go to Detroit, that is. I can usually find a really cheap fare to DTW. But, maybe I'll just haul the wife to Toronto for lunch.

She will be. However, still nursing our newborn. So, I'm not willing to risk the $50 just yet that she'll take off at the drop of a hat for a trip.

Keep in mind that Toronto seemed to have, when I checked for appointments, the greatest disparity between now and 1st available date open of all the sites. It’s why I picked Halifax.

i'm surprised no one checked Niagara Falls, NY

I'd love to pick Halifax, have family there. Since UA dropped IAD-YHZ, ticket prices are brutal. Well, they've always been brutal.

And I guess it doesn’t show up as regularly as a weekend special as it does from EWR.

but Niagara Falls, NY usually has the best time slots, followed by Fort Erie, ON.........

back in the days, those two locations did NOT have an iris scan. Not sure if they do now.....

As I reported previously, Niagara Falls Whrilpool Bridge does have an Iris scan. You take an interview on US side and then they give you a pass to cross the bridge for free to have your Iris scan done.

that would be great....how bout Fort Erie? Whats the status on that?

Fort Erie, ON (Peace Bridge) also has an iris scan, but I am not sure if you can get a GE finger prints done there because it is a Canadian facility. I might still have my approval letter with phone numbers to all the interview centers. You can possibly call and clarify if they do finger prints for GE also. IIf you interested, let me know and I will look them up and post here.

When I got mine in March of '10 the Whirlpool bridge center did both of my interviews and GE fingerprints. Then they sent me to Ft Erie for an iris scan, since they did not have a scanner there. I ended up deferring anyways and did the scan at YVR 2 months later.

I'm already a GE member. All I did last week was apply for the card and this is the response I got. My question is, what manner of feminine hygiene product mischief is this ?...

It's an error in the system, you will not have to conduct another interview.

GE Application, GE Conditional Approval, GE Interview along with GE final approval and CBP sticker in PP in under 48 hours! Congrats to the Department of Homeland Security!!

The GE program has clearly become very efficient and should be used as an example of effective governmental implementations. Could I suggest they these folks at CBP mentor TSA a touch?

After a long line involving a couple hours wait in YYZ this Saturday and seeing a GE scanner only used by one passenger with no waiting, I went straight to Admirals Club, logged onto GOES and submitted my application. When I got up Sunday am - I had the conditional approval letter (from a VT address) and looked for interview appointments - FLL was showing January but MIA had one for this am. Incredibley customer service friendly CBP agents at MIA, very short review of my info, was given the sticker, a business card size GE user guide and told I could use GE immediately. Was also told to expect my GE card in the mail later this week and that it soon will be used by TSA for pre-check ( I am already enrolled by AA in the pilot pre-check which is up and running at MIA with some struggles).

So pleased to have GE now with a short hop and back across the pond for an event this weekend and then 4 international returns next month!

Who ever is running this for Janet should get recognized!:D

That is amazing. My friend just applied for his Passport for his upcoming trip to Europe over Thanksgiving, so I might recommend him to apply immediately for GE. He expedited his Passport application, so should receive it in 2-3 weeks and hopefully get GE before the trip.

On another note, can somebody report current time for nexus approval?

Took me, already having GET, about 5 weeks from application to notification of needing to set up an interview.

So Nexus is still 4-6 weeks turn around, but it is only $50 for Nexus and GE :)

I am a US citizen and also have a Global Entry card. My passport is currently away from me (waiting for a visa decision), and I'm very likely to need to travel to Canada in the next 2 weeks. Does anyone know definitively whether I would be able to travel to Canada by land using just the Global Entry card? I've done much searching, but all I've found is that I cannot enter Canada with the GE card using the NEXUS lane. I'm content using the standard lane to enter Canada, but I need to know whether they would accept it similar to a passport card, given it has my citizenship embossed on it, it's a WHTI document, and it's harder to get than a passport card.

Any definitive sources or real-world experiences out there?

Not definitive, but 99.9% sure that they will not let you in. The canadiens require a passport. a GE card is not a substitute for proof of citizenship.
