Sorry double bookings is not what I meant. What I mean is that I think there might be people who are now holding up two seats. When that clears out there might be a handful of seats for sale.... I know I released the seats I was originally holding up once I was finally successful at booking a seat and paying for it, but I'm not sure the other seat I was having issues with was then reallocated to other people.

Considering the organizers specifically used the term "overbooked" and that they'd be contacting some individuals in the meat future, I'm guessing more there actually more people than seats, sadly. :(

They would open registration on a day the stock market is surging. I went to megado.com 30 minutes after opening to purchase. All I got was a "sold out" message. Milepoint should have a charity bid for first class slots!

Those first class slots all sold out in the pre-sale I believe.

Looks like they took the seat map down from the booking site. I'm sure some adjustments need to be made after the frenzy this AM....

    Update from gleff:

    1) Given the IT issues being discussed here, I imagine it's possible there are some double bookings. Would guess a few seats that look sold out might actually be available, it'll take a bit of time today to sort probably but htere could be a few more.

    2) People will cancel. They always do. Not everyone has paid yet. Even those that do, a few will realize they made a mistake or couldn't get the time off and will ask if replacement passengers can be found.

Basically everyone here, watching this thread, will learn about openings on the charter. It won't be something that gets posted broadly on blogs, etc first. So hang on a bit, let's see if it's really, actually, technically sold out. Let's see if everyone actually pays. And who asks to give up their spot.

Oh no! Where did they use that language?

Good news! I paid straight away, so hopefully I wont be called :-\

Sounds like you were right about multiple people laying claim on seats. About three people have claimed my seat on milepoint :(

Update posted indicating that *possible* solutions to the demand/double booking includes changing the charter to a 777 or chartering another aircraft.

Looks like Megaodo.com is having issues... they're requiring a login. I tired used my Milepoint login info, but no dice.

Works for me when I go to megado.com.

There was a section that required a login for booking, and the password and login were mailed to members who qualified for the pre-sale. Are you trying to access the booking section?

If they don't get the approval for a larger plane or second plane, we can just host a fight card at the AA arena, winner is allowed to claim their seat on the charter. It would be the post reception activity ;) Either that or we could have the Amazing Race: Megado DFW ;)

I'm a Amazing Race fan. Though I suppose it might make sense to do a game show style contest based on knowledge of AA, AAdvantage, and oneworld. Like Billy Madison.

And actually for the scheduling, could probably do it where anybody who lost was able to take a commercial flight into SEA and then do SEA-LAX on a schedule flight, just so they can join the activities if they can handle that number on the tour

For those who are interested, AA posted in the OW MegaDO forum the following video featuring the check presentation raised on the MegaDO for Susan G Komen. $50,000 was raised. See below!
