Resolved I am unable to change my avatar

This evening I have attempted to change my avatar. I have had zero success. The new picture I upload shows as a blank. In the avatar box it shows a broken image. Help please. Thank you.

hmm, I recall that happening to someone else last year. It seems the upload burped and the server got hung, thinking it had a file, and not letting him overwrite it with a new file.

Each time you change avatars the new one gets assigned the same file name on the MP server.
For example, mine is http: //milepoint.com/forums/data/avatars/l/0/66.jpg
(when I change the image, the file name remains the same).
Yours should be http: //milepoint.com/forums/data/avatars/l/2/2445.jpg but it's coming up 404 not found.

They probably need to go into the directory and find the broken bit of file or link and flush it out.

The default, which is now showing for you is
http:// milepoint.com/forums/styles/default/xenforo/avatars/avatar_male_l.png

I think there is a larger issue with uploads in general. I could not upload photos directly for a thread (eventually had to upload to a web site and then link over) Also, when I tried to alter my avatar to see if a photo upload worked there, it blanked mine out, too.

When I googled this link it took me to mikeef's home page on mp. When I scrolled over the generic avatar is shows my info. al has been spending too much time with RP's tequila collection.

This happened to me last year (back in early MP days) when I tried to change avatars. I guess the system doesn't like members who lie a lot.

Perhaps this means you are supposed to have a choose my new avatar contest like gargoyle.

I would be voted off the MP island.

Why do you say that? I've had my mug up for months and other than a few thousand complaints, there have been no problems at all.

I improved upon your avatar to make it more socially acceptable, but Milepoint is not allowing me to upload .jpg or .png today- something is clearly messed up with the server. I got a screen cap of the error msg. I'll load the files from dropbox instead.

Next thing you know, you will tell me that pigs can fly.

This is a tremendous evolution from the issues earlier today. Al would upload the images in broken link form. For a few minutes my avatar was all white. I was like the Republican party. It was scary. Now Al is ackowledging he is not performing properly. Perhaps the tech guys can give him his cyber Viagra and uploading will function normally. I am going to enjoy the lovely weather in my part of the MPverse.

The above is the uploaded file of one of the official Kiva avatars on MP. I am still invisible as you can see to the left. I know the IT folks at the HOM are working OT to solve this issue. I am hopeful I can upload my new avatar by the time I reach SF for the Kiva DO. Thanks.

It is now 11:08 pm Eastern Time. A few moments ago it became clear to me that fellow Kiva Team members Misman and miles and smiles lost their Avatar too. I cannot bear to go another day on MP without seeing m&s's ghoulish smile. Al please help.

Sadly, as a Gold Member, your support options on MP are somewhat limited.

I don't know what is happening, but I do know the problems all started after gargoyle changed his avatar and unleashed a force that Milepoint has not been able to handle.
But hey, it could be worse. We could ALL be pigs now!
