There is a report button if you are concerned about a post.

But if it's really Spam, it should be reported, no?

seriously? lots of people are spamming posts/likes everywhere.

in some forums/threads, who cares, as i said earlier. in others, it hides meaningful data/information.

aha.....I guess you mean something different by Spam than I would...OK, sorry.

Can you define SPAM as it applies to M*P ?

But one cannot change the rule for the past, only for the future. Retroactivity is a bad thing.

Points do matter in one thing: people listen more when you have more. Sadly.

After having started myself a thread on that topic (called "The value lf the likes for status", sorry I can't link it), I've been convinced by others it was not a bad thing. And I even participated in one of these like threads. I met people and I had fun. Many did add content. Some did not.

Anyway I'm still not sure. Except for one thing: it is better to have such threads, at least for the Beta period, than to have meaningless "likes" in serious threads. Or a collection of useless posts such as "+1" and "wow" and "yeah", or whatever empty posts you can think about, making otherwise interesting threads heavy to read. I prefer an identified thread of possible silly posts than silly posts inside an interesting thread.

I guess the simple thing to do is remove the OT forum from post count and like count. I think that would make a big difference.
    • Original Member

    kiwi Gold Member

Not really. There are OT topics in the other forums too.

After the beta period, you mean? I do not think it will be necessary, it is already slowing down.

Have you checked out the Penalty Box?Unless you go through each thread to exclude all of them. And there are OT discussions within threads too. So you might need to go through each of the discussion just to be fair

Retroaction is unfair and retroactive laws are unconstitutional in most democratic countries.

Plus you would ALREADY have a lot of angry members. Before the launch. Good for the spirit, very good.

Are the status based fora moved out of post count? How would you decide which to remove. Tricky subject I'd say.

I cannot get over how some are getting bent out of shape on this topic. After all this is an IBB, a place to escape, and over time it will settle down into a very solid, mile and point location for all to come to. These initial weeks will be forgotten (by most anyway ;)) and content will be king.

We can hope all move past this. There is potential for lingering discontent and will only bring about an unfriendly environment.

We're here (and not there) for a reason.

So long as the problems are fixed.

Exactly! If the lingering discontent among some remains, then we need to rise above, and make this what it can be!

Well it is up to each person here to determine if it is the place for them. So far many seem to think it is. In the end each person has to make that decision for themselves.
