Do you think? Aren't these weeks rather more setting the pattern for behaviour on this site in the future? As has been found elsewhere, once a behaviour becomes established as 'acceptable' in the minds of those doing it, it becomes very hard to alter. I think you are confusing optimism with a lack of understanding of human psychology

Unless we have something corresponding to a "not a helpful post" button, noise will continue to be rewarded. I've got nothing against amusing or interesting OT posts and threads, including those that don't amuse or interest me, but pointless noise (speed-posts devoid of content) isn't going to make this an attractive place to hang out.
