    That is what started all of the trouble and the injunction against me. Along with the convent, rubber hose, french ticklers, United SWU and one of jbcarioca's chancletas.

    You promised you would not tell anyone. You did not. You told everyone. Dam'd Lawyers!!

    No you will not, sir!! Your attendance is required. Should you fail to attend everyone will be nice to you for months and you'll never recover.

    Bump.....

    Does Kiva have an interest in a second Do?

    Yes, I'm interested!

    I think its fair to say there would be interest. Especially with our now topping 1,000 members and the indoctrination of those non-Kivites on the SMD4. So how long did it take y'all to plan the first one and can I help in anyway for the second one?

    The first one took about four months beginning to end. It was somewhat more difficult because we had no idea at all how many people would turn up or want to participate and Kiva had never done anything like it. This one will be much easier, but much larger too, so we'll need lost of planning for different kinds of sessions depending on interests and experiences.

    So, please post what you think here and lets begin to share ideas.

    I'll offer a couple of thoughts now.
    1) It should be in San francisco because that's where the Kiva people are;
    2) It should be at an airport property because they're much cheaper, have better conference capabilities and it's easy to get to the city for a Kiva office visit and social functions;
    3) We should allow more free time than we did last year;
    4) it should be scheduled for whenever SFO has the fewest conventions coming (is there such a time?)

    What do you all think?

    1) Agree
    2) Agree, as long as it doesn't prohibit Kiva staff from getting out to us
    3) Very much yes. I think one of my favorite times was the happy hour with Kiva staff on Friday which I know not everyone was able to attend.
    4) Agreed. I think it would be cool if we could score Giants tickets. But that probably can't happen this year.

    I also think that visiting the MFI was really important for me, but then again I'm more comfortable in the field as opposed to behind a desk.

    I am in for attending the conference......

    ....and helping to plan.

    1) Agree.
    2) Makes sense however I've never visited San Francisco so I'd love to be in the city as much as I can.
    3) I wasn't there so I'll agree with your expert opinion.
    4) Knitting convention is 21-24 Feb in Santa Clara. The weekend before or after that would be fantastic. Although after the cluster that was their Atlanta convention I could probably skip it.......

    I'm up for it, though I will need the dates as early as possible. I expect I will have a conference in the UK in early 2013. No date for that yet, either.

    Plenty of advance notice of dates for me too, please.

    I will not be able to participate in the planning of the Do but I wish everyone good luck in organizing the event.

    I am interested in attending since I wasn't able to attend the first one!

    In light of what happened during the recent conference call, is it still worth spending a lot of time and resources on a second DO if they (Kiva) don't bother much afterwards?

    I think those questions need to be addressed before I decide to fly half-way round the world...

    I am asking myself the same thing.....plans should perhaps be put in abeyance until we find out what Kiva intends to do about the expiring loans fiasco et al.

    I just sent an email to Kiva conveying my profound disappointment that the acknowledged fiasco of expiring loans was not being addressed. I also shared my deep concern that this issue is impacting the impetus of team Milepoint. Kiva has affected the morale of one of the most vibrant lending teams. Kiva has also jeoparpized the enthousiasm for the next Do. :(

    I think that I am revising my answer to a maybe. Pending what Kiva decides to do long term here.
    I really enjoy meeting people and the staff at Kiva, and I hate to be 'demanding' but we only want to throw money at them, and they continually do things to weaken the spirits of their most viable lenders.
    I am starting to think things like the DO may just be a waste of time, as far as moving KIVA forward anyway. It may be better to keep some support for kiva in place, to just do them as subevents at the other large DOs. I know that I will probably scale back my funding with new money. I had planned on making it 10x more this year, didn't do any last month, and only 3 new money loans this month, so I am not going to drop it, just be selective and not concern me too much anymore.

    We (2 pax) would be interested in attending and/or helping with planning. We're 3.5 hours south by car so can maybe arrange some mattress runs as part of helping plan, if need be. Advance notice, too, very important for us.

    Here is the list of Conventions:

    Should it be in proximity to a US holiday, for those who want to stay and visit SFO?

    Say:
    Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is on Monday, January 21, 2013.
    Washington's Birthday (Presidents Day) is on Monday, February 18, 2013.

    MLK day is in proximity to the Winter Fancy Food Show but that doesn't look like too huge of an event?

    Not many ppl get Pres. Day off but MLK majority does;)
