I will likely go check-in to the hotel after our late lunch. Hope that some folks can join in - whether or not they are actually doing their Park Inn stay that day!


Due to overwhelming popular demand (okay, the request of a handful of people), I will try and put together a meet-up at the Park Inn by Radisson in North Houston (near IAH) on Saturday June 16th. This is one of 10 Park Inns in the nation, and the rates are in the $60-$70 dollar range for that night with the AAA discount. Heck of a deal to take advantage of the Club Carlson "One Plus One" promo. Since lots of us will be hitting that hotel at some point this summer, might as well make a get together out of it!

My own personal preference would be to meet-up at the hotel and then have dinner somewhere like Pappasitos that is about 7-8 miles away, but I am flexible, so majority rules.

Ignore the times in the RSVP - I just put something there as a place holder. I will update when our details firm up. So, are you in?

Sounds like a good idea to me! The 16th is iffy for me right now though. I should know more in the next couple of days and be able to make a firm commitment then.

Depending on the size of the group, we may have problems sitting together at Pappasitos. Anyone know if they have a 'party room'?

What are the chances of us getting a cheap group rate that earns points?

I'm not sure how much cheaper the rate could get! Pappasitos does have group rooms. I can call to get info if we end up having interest that direction. Also, if we are doing perhaps a little bit of a late lunch on a Saturday I doubt it will be too big of a problem.

I'll be on a family visit in Houston, and what better way to take a break from family than get together with fellow points junkies! Late lunch on June 16th should work for me (not dinner at this point, but that may change).

Sounds like fun. I think a lot of people will be having dinner with their families for Father's Day (17th).

I would be there, but I am staying at the hotel May.31-June.1, if anyone is around during these dates I wouldn't mind getting together for drinks or dinner.

You are right, $60-$70 is a good rate! I guess I was just being a bit greedy.

Just sign up..membership is cheap and they can give you a temp card right when you sign up. I think worse case, if you aren't happy being a AAA member, I believe they will refund your membership...For me the hotel discounts/peace of mind make it worth it.

Love the meet-up idea...too bad I can't use BA short-distant miles from RDU to Houston. It may have been a cool long distance mattress run for me.

I was trying to find a Park Inn that was easy to get to from the "deep South(west)" less than an hour ago. I suppose I can be there.

Just noticed it was June 16 not July 16. I'm having the rest of June off.

The advance purchase rate is the same price as the AAA rate.

......but is non-refundable, which may not matter to some. However, if you travel a fair amount, AAA membership will likely save you some cash at some point.

How about we do 1:30PM lunch at Pappasito's on I-45 North? I can call and see about getting a reservation once we know how many folks are in

Thanks for organizing Mommypoints. Unfortunately I'm already booked into the DAL Park Inn on Mockingbord for Friday - Saturday (15-16).

For the curious, the rate at DFW is $67 prepaid, $75 ai with a refundable rate around $84 + taxes. That weekend was the least costly I could find that worked for my schedule.

Looks like the rate went up. Just checked and the lowest rate $99 for the non AAA rate.

I would love to be here w/ my SO as well. From 6/7 to 6/12 or 13 (possibly) we will be in Sarasota,FL for her "only bro" B-Day memorial. Have to drive from the Northeast-FL w/ family members & back so I will reserve hotel(s) now & see what happens later. From my understanding the Park Inn & Country Suites are in the same vicinity-correct? If so then this will definitely work.

Well, on Hotels.com it is starting at $71 per night, so if you are seeing $99 I smell a BRG. Though it still seems to to show about $64 for AAA for me, so maybe we are seeing different numbers.

I was looking at the DFW hotel price that zphelj mentioned. The love field hotel is $66 and the DFW looks like $99 now. I do see the Houston price at $64. Would love to join you guys in Houston but right now the price is about $200rt from DFW. If the price drops a little I will see if I can make it.

Ouch, now up to $129 a night. Didn't see any BRG opportunities either.
