Yes, we should have numbers of attendees for each day soon, so please open a conversation and we can discuss logistics.

SLLLOOOOOWLLLLLY, but surely, we are getting the Do date, so we will post the events as we confirm them.

    Up first - THURSDAY MARCH 8th, 2012

This is the pre-tour option for those who are in town. We received confirmation of a small MF tour in the Mission District prior to the Kiva HQ your and pub social, so now is a good time to post the event!

For those who are interested, we will be meeting in the Mission District at one of the Entrepreneurs (Native Hand by Hand) of Opportunity Fund. (For those staying at the Fisherman's Wharf, we will depart at 2:15 from the hotel). Our host will give us some info on her shop and her experiences working with her MFI. This will also be a great time to personally support the borrower as she sells fine silver jewelry and handmade clothing.

From the shop, we will take a short walk over to the HQ of Opportunity Fund where they will give us some information of their operations, focuses and offer some time for Q&A.

As the Mission District is about 20 minutes from the Kiva HQ on Howard St, we will take the BART or a bus over for our 5-ish pm tour of the new Kiva HQ. Finally we will cap the night off with the social event at the Public House, a nice establishment approx a mile from the Kiva HQ. Light snacks will be provided at this event and we will have a dedicated area. Menus are available for those who wish to order more food for themselves.

The other scheduled events will be posted this week.

    Cheers!

Our Friday morning tour with Virgin has been posted in the schedule.

Our hosts at Virgin, Adam and Zach, are offering an exciting program of the Virgin America experience.

The schedule will have 2 components - a very special behind-the-scenes tour by Zach of SFO T2 open to the top 10 bidders in the VX experience auction. This tour will take place prior to the general tour open to Kiva Do Attendees. The general tour will take place at the VX HQ where amongst the highlights are mini-tours of 4 key areas in the HQ and a chance to meet and have coffee with Virgin America Executives.

From the HQ, we will head to SFO's brand new Terminal 2, home of VX! Our guide will be the designer for VX who will take the group on a tour of the facilities, highlighting the design aesthetic and LEED certification for the building which had extensive input from VX. Following a visit to the Virgin Village where crew and staff chill, our hosts will provide the group in cabin service demonstration on one of their A320s, providing a VX box lunch for the bus!

The bus will depart at 12 noon sharp as the Kiva Do talks will begin at 1pm!

Please note: The schedule will be weather dependent as we will be using a plane for our demonstration and weather issues may shift airplane availability.

Special thanks to drdubs for getting this rolling.

What's the camera policy for the VX portion of this Do? Are they allowed?

Great question and thank you for asking! We believe pictures are allowed, though we will have to ask if there is a policy re: posting photos on the intertubes as some areas are not open to the public -- thank you for understanding!

Would it be helpful to start a thread with logistical info for attendees?
Those looking to share transportation to or from airport/hotel and other venues.... and other important details could link up with each other.
This would ensure that this main thread would not be cluttered with requests.

Now that I think of it, my old first generation iphone from 2007 will not work with paypal (or anything else for that matter), so I am in the same boat. Looking fwd to the option Randy mentioned. Thanks for thinking of this.

Perhaps it would be good to know the parking situation at off site venues for those with cars (who choose to drive), and what public transit would best be used to get there for those not inclined, including the bus/BART/cable/hop on hop off/etc pick up location and schedule. And even how much a taxi ride would cost for that option.

For Thu night, I hope I am there in time, it sounds awesome! And a brisk mile walk might be nice for going from Kiva HQ to Public House, if its in a safe neighborhood? Anyone know? If not, can the group continue on BART or a bus to get there? I'll have a car, but I don't really want to drive while there.

I am editing, as I was just thinking of all the orgs already have to do, yet this may be kind of essential info. I would be happy to research it as the times and venue info comes in, if needed?

If there are other vegetarians/vegans attending the DO, I would like to share info with you about where to eat. I haven't been to SF in decades, so I would love to hear from anyone who has some good info on nearby vegetarian/vegan restaurants. At this point I am researching the web for suggestions like Mood Thai sushi two blocks from hotel and Loving Hut 3/4 mile away. Also there is a Trader Joe's two blocks away.
Please open a conversation with me.
    Thanks.

Greens at Fort Mason (Marina district) is an excellent vegetarian restaurant, with fantastic views of the Golden Gate at Sunset.

Here's the website for Greens. If anyone is interested (especially a group) I highly recommend reservations.

It's upscale, but not formal, if that makes any sense.

As a public service for my fellow Kivavegetarian here is a link to some places close to the Fisherman's Wharf area that will deliver to your location since jbcarioca will not let you leave until you have emptied your bank account.

You will be amazed at the bounty of great food options in San Francisco. You can walk in any direction from the hotel and find something delicious, filling and healthful within a reasonable distance.

M&S, we were going through the questionnaire responses to determine caerin. Are you 100% vegetarian, lacto-ovo vegetarian, pescaterian? We can modify to ensure there enough options for dinner and the reception.

    Are there other vegetarians?

    Thanks canucklehead.
I am a vegan - no fish, fowl, meat nor dairy.
I looked at the menu of the place that was chosen for Saturday night, and I can eat there. I did not know that other collective meals are being arranged. Be assured that I am very capable of finding vegan food for myself as I do so wherever I travel, and SF will be fairly easy compared to other places. I will, of course, be happy if I don't have to go out much to find my own food. I posted above mostly to see if there are other vegetarians who want to share a meal during the weekend. Also, I won't arrive at the DO until Friday mid-day and will have already had my lunch or will bring it with me.

Greens is one of my favorite places. I never ever go to SF without a pilgrimage to Greens. If you want a good views you must reserve and go early. By early that is SF early or Madrid early, nowhere in between. That is, get there about 17:30 or at 22:00 but forget about in between. On weekends early works better than late, but it is always full.

Assuming anybody is around for Sunday dinner following the DO, I'll be happy to provide transportation for up to four people. I will make the reservation. Just open a Conversation with me.
