Just an update on some contacts and event planning.

I contacted Chelsa Bocci, the Community Marketing Director about our event and she provided a prompt reply noting that we should work with Devon, the Community liaison for the lending teams, and author of the article interviewing Randy. In addition, I noted that I will be in SF in early Nov (and hopefully jbcarioca too) and she suggested we meet in person to discuss the ideas.

So, what shall be the themes of discussion with Kiva? How long should the schedule be. I hope we can have many of the things on Sat, but barring that, a meet with the Kiva fellows on Sat and general meeting on Fri.

I have also reached out to the LLL (through YULtide, their team leader), and have already messaged and posted on the FofBH message page. Hopefully we will hear from the FT team soon. I think once we get an itinerary, there will be more people interested in attending the event.

Meeting with Kiva next month and developing a plan for the DO sounds great. I'm sure that getting a commitment from Kiva on their participation will encourage people to attend.
I hope that you can come up with a few options for us to chose from - meeting with Kiva staff, meeting with Kiva fellows, etc. Just as there are people who can only attend Saturday activities, there are others who can come to SF for longer. I have family and friends in the area, so I intend to come for longer. So, try to come up with activities for the weekend, but don't ignore activities that might be restricted to a working day.
    And thanks for doing this.
When you have a date and time for your Nov. meeting with Kiva, please let us know.

    Thanks miles and smiles!

If it is ok with everyone, with consultation from others, I will post a template for our time with Kiva - there will be two agendas as the Saturday looks to be the preferred day of planning. Events will be from Thurs night (if Kiva is have their biweekly social that week) til Sunday noon.

As for social or non-Kiva activities, restaurant, tours or other charitable event ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated to fill the weekend schedule.

I recommend that we set our meeting times with Kiva staff and fellows before we explore additional possibilities, or at least before we make concrete plans for other activities.

I say this because I have a contact in the Bay Area who may prove very helpful to us for extracurricular activities, but I don't want to pursue that before we're set with Kiva. And I'm sure others have good contacts, too.
By the way, we should ask Kiva to assist us in contacting Bay Area Kiva lenders. I trust there is a team or a list or something of that nature.

I'm back from my Kansas trip. Still having difficulties scheduling the March trip to Argentina so probably should only be put down as a Maybe for the Kiva Do. This all is so not easy.

Actually, it may be more likely that I might be available for activities on Thurs. & Fri., as I currently have a conflict for the w/end. So, an event beginning on Thurs. evening could work for me, personally!:)

We will have something on Thursday, to be sure. It seems there will be people in and out throughout the DO

Wonderful news, catgirl - I will put you down in the Attendee list (post #2)! Welcome to the MP Kiva team and happy loaning. Loaning and helping is addictive (and amazing)!

Thanks!!! I am looking forward to doing something good for others. My first time participating in Kiva - actually heard about Kiva on MP. I donate time and money to animals and women's shelters. I am hoping to make another small difference to someone. :)

Awesome - will check it out.

I am also happy to see that my 1st loan was fully funded. I looked for one of the ones that was expiring soon.
