    Just to make you feel worse, I re-qualified for Platinum on AA on 22 December, and I have already received my pack. :eek:

    Well, you see, my conclusion is that timely status packs cause an airline to go bankrupt, and failure to timely send them causes a lot of profitability.

    I got a reply from one of the emails posted before..... appears to be from a real person (not a machine) and its loaded with apologies and a promise to have something sent to me urgently......

    Why am I not holding my breath....?

    Ok... Ive just received an email from the bozos at LAN asking me to confirm my address so that I can receive my luxurious Elite package..... :rolleyes: :mad: :confused:

    Oh well, several of mine never arrive, but I do not have LAN to blame!
    And I always though that was caused by too many pisco's/cachaca or other rotgut. :oops:

    Ok... so if January 2nd and no elite package was beyond incompetent.... today is Jan 26th and still no package..... is there a LAWYER in the house..???!!!!!!!!!!!

    and then they tell me about how efficient things are over on the WRONG side of the Andes....

    I will write another complaint email asking for compensation due to this..... (please dont laugh). I just want to get a kick out of what the trained corporate response will be. I think I will ask for 5000 kilometers..... any bets on how this will go..?

    BTW, got a reply to my email requesting compensation.... my request was just ignored, they only tell me my package should arrive within 30 days.....

    Perhaps that is the only benefit..... Im in Brazil right now, just called the office and nothing received... so still, no elite status card for me.... :mad:

    Question... will my premium card give me status on One World... if so, will AA waive baggage fees due to this status...?

    Yes, but you don't need your card, just make sure your LANPASS # is in your PNR which will show your oneworld status. Here's the AA statement on baggage fee exceptions:

    The following passengers will be allowed a 1st and/or 2nd checked bag at no additional charge provided it falls within the size and weight limitations. These free checked bag allowances apply on flights operated by American Airlines, American Eagle, and AmericanConnection®. On codeshare flights operated by other carriers, the baggage allowance and charges of the operating carrier apply.
    • For customers traveling to or from destinations in Brazil and Asia (except India)
    • Customers traveling between South America and the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Europe and India if the ticket was purchased before August 30, 2011
    • Customers traveling between Canada and Europe or India as well as customers traveling from Canada through Europe or India to another destination if the ticket was purchased before August 30, 2011
    • Customers who purchase full-fare tickets in Economy Class
    • Customers who purchase Business or First Class tickets
    • Active U.S. Military personnel traveling on orders or personal travel
    • Active U.S. Military dependents traveling on orders
    • American Airlines AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum® or AAdvantage Gold® members

    Thanks.... what I dont get is the wording on 1st and/or 2nd.... does this mean I get 2 checked bags or just 1...? What does this depend on...?

    I think this was probably for domestic flights. I presume you're flying international...check out http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/baggage/baggageAllowance.jsp?anchorEvent=false&from=Nav

    For South America - US travel, here's what it says:
    SOUTH AMERICA (EXCEPT BRAZIL) TO/FROM THE U.S., PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, AND CANADA

    For tickets purchased on or after February 8, 2012
    For tickets purchased between August 30, 2011, and February 7, 2012
    For tickets purchased before August 30, 2011:
    • Two bags checked - No charge
    • Please contact Reservations to determine charges for additional bags.
    The exceptions are those that I posted above; for international you get two free checked bags.
