Folks... if I book a deeply discounted economy fare (Q class) on American and fly a route all on AA metal but want to get mileage to my Lanpass account... what gives with mileage...? Do I still get full credit...?

Im looking at a EZE to LAX and return fare and wanted to do LAN but aside from the crappy connections, fares are 50% more expensive than if I slum it on AA... hence Im looking at EZE JFK LAX on AA and now need to decide if I will bank mileage to AAdvantage or to Lanpass.... I have no status on either but want to know if it will make a difference when collecting in one program over the other.

    Thanks !!!

LANpass should actually have a bit more show up, as they measure your travel in kilometers, not miles. There should be no reason why AA would give you more mileage when you fly with them.

Check the Lanpass home country rules (I assume you are AR-registered) as I don't know if there are any derivations between the various international Lanpass versions for accrual.

Just to confirm... I flew all segments of a EZE DFW HOU LAX MIA EZE on AA metal on various discounted economy fares and all flights have posted promptly to my LAN Pass account.... as far as I can tell, 100% mileage/kilometer accrual.

Now, I still cant figure out if flying on purchased AA tickets on AA metal I still get status miles awarded towards LanPass elite levels........ any ideas...?

As long as your LANPass number was registered, the base miles/kms flown will count toward elite status qualification on LAN.

Note that if you are in a premium cabin on a OW airline, the bonus will NOT apply. Only bonuses for flights flown in LAN-metal premuim cabins count toward your elite status on LAN.

Follow up question.... I assume that for status calculations, LANPass uses a calendar year... as in kilometers flown from Jan 1 till Dec 31st, is this correct...??

Yes, but the membership year is 1 April - 31 March.

Related question.... I called LANs 0800 number and asked about the elite status bonus for Premium Lanpass holders, the agent told me that this bonus still applies if I fly AA metal on AA stock.... can you confirm this is correct...?

    Thanks
    Alex
