Likes as currency- controlling coinage

There is a lot of good discussion and ideas going on here, thanks for all the ideas. :) One idea that came to mind to me when I read the title of this thread was truly using likes as currency and whenever you gave a like your own like total was in turn lowered. That idea might have worked out better early on than it would now, some people have amassed quite a few likes to their profile, more than I would have ever guessed before.

Another option that was used by a BB I used to participate in was to weigh the likes (and dislikes on that forum) based on the points/status/seniority of the issuer of the like. (And, IIRC, the members had a sliding scale to influence how much they were handing out).

In short, however, it would weigh a like from Gargoyle or JALPak 10 or more times heavier than a like issued by a relative newcomer like me.

    Cheers,

Gargoyle is waaaaaaaaay heavier. I am just a little angry bird and have no such power unlike the heavy stone guide

However, we all know what little birds do when they squat on a gargoyle.
They have the power, and there isn't anything the gargoyle can do to resist it.

Do not underestimate the power of addiction! So is this why like and post don't seem to generate any more status points after reaching 10,000? The admins just haven't set up the trophy awards for >10,000 Likes/Posts cuz they have never expected anyone would get that much in such a short period of time? :p

I think it's a new thing that folks are playing with (me included). It will probably settle down in the months to come. ;)

Yes I fear I have missed the boat on gaining masses of likes but a lot of members have already taken advantage of this especially during the beta.

I guess some people are liked more than others ;) and that is something that will naturally just happen.

I would like to be able to transfer likes in a batch of 100 when I fall out of my chair at a few select posts on here :)

Sort of a super like :D Getting one of those might make someone's day.

Ah, but a bird should be nimble where gargoyles are, putting it nicely, less nimble. :D
