Its official, first passenger route will be Frankfurt-Washington Dulles.

Disappointed a bit, was hoping for JFK to match what their first ever 747 flew for the first time 40+ years ago. But at least its here.

No date has been set for first flight

Don't know if I'll be on first flight. Depends on the date they put it into service. I have a bunch of calendar conflicts if its late may or june. I'm planning on going to BER for opening weekend June 3, so maybe it works out perfectly.

IAD is my home airport for most international travel (DCA for most domestic), so I am thrilled beyond belief. :D Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to make the first flight. :(

I would like to be on the inaugural ( either way) - now if I could only know the service entry date....I am also curious about the new C product - not thrilled about it - but definitely a step up from the slanting slope I currently fly...

LH has a contest for tickets on flight one. It was supposed to be launched on the 22nd, but has been delayed since they don't have the first flight date. There's a link I can dig up for you if you want it.

Thanks 744, I have seen it and probably I will join it although I am not a lucky guy - my best bet will rely in paying for the c ticket. Hopefully part of it will be given to a charity of choice...not LH!

Should I change my flight plan? :p

I was scheduled to do SFO-MUC-FRA-SIN, I can just change this to IAD-FRA-MUC-SIN, or should I wait for any one of these to change to a 748 instead?

Looks like the 748 will retain upper deck F, with 8 seats arranged behind the flight deck. Was kind of hoping for a more traditional F on the nose of the plane..

I am quite sure that F on the 748 is in the nose. Is there a change in plans from what has been announced previously?

There does seem to be any change, you are correct TRAVELSIG, F on the brand new 747-8 will be at the front of the plane. As stated in pertinent part, on the Lufthansa Press of May 2, 2012: "For the first time, First Class passengers will be seated in the front section of the main deck, the quietest part of the aircraft. On the B747-8, this area is exceptionally quiet – thanks to the outer skin insulation, sound-absorbing curtains, which minimise specific noises, and the sound-deadening material used in the aircraft flooring. Each of the eight First Class seats can be converted into a lie-flat bed, which is 2.07 metres long and 80 cm wide, enabling passengers to enjoy a deep, relaxing sleep." :)

Now I'm on the 747-8i on June 3 (and had to go from F to C for now) since they subbed in a 744 on the 4th. Still gives time to visit family in europe though.

    That m
That may be a tough list to crack. The entire upper deck is blocked and only 13 seats remain open.
