MegaDoers Anonymous?

Okay, so I’ve been part of all 3 Star Alliance MegaDo’s, including the Euro portions of SMD1 & 3, attended every CO Do in Houston, flew myself to the OneWorld Launch Party in LA, and just signed up for the 1st OneWorld MegaDo. Although not yet open, I’m jonesing about the Euro portion of that Do, though I really shouldn’t spend the money for it. Further, though I hate the heat, I went to the Dubai Do in late June (flew on miles on that one, but paid for the hotels). And I’m salivating over the Austin BBQ Do coming up in April, having already booked the hotels, but not the flight.

I’m becoming concerned that I’ve found a new addiction that will end up bankrupting me. My control to just say “NO” to these is very weak.

Is it time to set up a MegaDoers Anonymous?

Hi, my name is From NYC, and I’m a MegaDoAholic!

Congratulations on step one, now for step 2, you need to wire me the cost of a DO when you wish to register, and I will extract a small surcharge and return your funds to you after registration has closed, as well as keeping track of how much you were spending on these pursuits ;)

And you've now just confirmed for me that mowogo is a name by which Nigerian princes are known. ;-)

One difference, I actually make it known I'm a real person. You are sitting across the aisle from me on the next charter :p

It's nice to have the money and head to a DO.
It's nice to be single. ;)

P.S. Some DOs are local.

You’re absolutely right, and I shouldn’t’ve left off my taking part in BRT 11. Right after I hit “post”, I realized I should’ve titled the thread Do/MegaDo Anonymous?, because, technically, Dubai and the coming Austin aren’t listed as MegaDo’s; they’re just Do’s, as were the CO Do’s.

And if one is responsible enough not to sign up for a Do or MegaDo because of keeping one’s head on straight, one is not a Do/MegaDoAholic. Just like, as opposed to some, I don’t care about buying the latest styles or going to the latest restaurant as soon as it opens, if not during the soft openings, or even well after it’s opened.

I'm not sure we're the right crowd to help you say, "no!" :)

But we are the crowd to say NO, save the money so you can donate to others getting addicted to megados :p

I think I can safely say I'm a DO addict when a major reason for wanting to make the move to North America is to lower my cost of DO/MegaDO attendance. :D I simply can't keep spending an additional $2k every couple of months to head over to the US for a DO :p

(or a launch party.... or, well, any excuse really)

    That's why I like my $675 fare LHR-LAX this weekend. :)

Yes, you and Storyteller certainly have this added problem to deal with. Though it does help to keep you in top elite trim.

My friend and I were trying to remember the NZ national anthem the other day, and both realized we could recite it better in Maori than in English.

Don't forget to add OzFest to your list of annual must-Dos.

And, yes, I am also considering going to the Tuesday night meetings ... Hey!! Here's a great idea - we can have Do addicts from all over the place doing Mileage runs to get to the Tuesday night meetings for DOs Anonymous.

Lol, count me in on this one. I hear ya;) I wasn't going to go to this DO in the first place and save the space for AA'ers but? Just today decided to go for it, after getting the early sign up notice yesterday from MP. Hehe. It's my first MegaDo of anykind. I'm a *A person at this point but? I remember a great experience with AA people down in Dallas when I was attending a class for something else. And I was actually on an AA flight to get there from points east. So, with changes to the FF program I am now a part of, I am really curious as to what OneWorld has to offer me and have some fun with a different part of the world, not to mention the other peeps attending these sessions. :D
