In the interest of avoiding member number collisions as we combine programs, we will be assigning new Globally Unique Identifiers. Starting in 2012, you can look forward to easy-to-remember IDs, such as 21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D or 3F2504E0-4F89-11D3-9A0C-0305E82C3301. There'll be some changes over the next few months - and we think you'll like them.

OH yeah. just what I want to do! Carry around a letter from my FF program explaining why I don't have my card. Should I pin it to my shirt?

Tape it to your forehead, right next to your old Mileage Plus card (that's where I "carry" my 1K card, so everyone can appreciate my status as I walk through the airport)

Almost makes me wish we had a global ID. Every person who was ever born gets a number, in sequence. Adam = 1. Eve = 2. Etc. The number of people who have ever been alive is somewhere north of 100B. So a simple, 12-digit number should be all anyone needs. Use the same number for your address, your phone, your credit card, your FF plan.

Hey, funny how a 12-digit number is pretty close to the 10-digit numbers UA uses... :p

Try having the same number for 28 years and then having to change. I do find some irony in the fact that CO employees have to adopt UA employee numbers.

By the way, I'm still available to discuss accessibility issues with you, as we discussed briefly at SMD3. I have a fresh perspective on the subject as I broke my other ankle 2 months ago and have been and will be traveling with an air cast fracture boot and a walker for the next 5 months or so. I am finding that even with ACAA and ADA, things haven't improved much over the years.

Well, for me it's the other way round: a combination of letters and numbers, like my OnePass number was more easy to remember then my other full numeric FF numbers.

So the question is, will EQM (or what ever it's called these days) from both UA And CO on both Mileage + and 1 PASS, count next year, the same way it does this year?

It was announced that there will be only one program in 2012, and that Onepass ends on 12/31/11. However I expect that on an interim basis both accounts will remain until the single computer platform is launched in March 2012. EQM (which I think are being renamed PQM) will add both balances together.

OMG 1pass ends 12/31?. I don't think I can bear UA manual style to book award tickets or UA style "arbitrary rulez" subject to interpretation.

Many things in this merger have been putting the United name onto CO's programs and systems, so there's no great reason to believe that the combined mileage program won't be similar. Have some discretion on award routings is a good thing, however, vs. having it all controlled by computer.

Until our system transition is complete, nothing will change about the way you access your account details or use your current account numbers. In mid-January, we will share specifics about how the transition to new account numbers will work, as well as details on your 2012 Premier status. Additionally, the most up to date information is also available on our website.

    Shannon,
I am a United GS and am showing no elite status in my One-Pass account. Is there a way to correct this matter?

    Have you linked your accounts?

Also, posting your OnePass number here probably isn't the wisest thing.

Accounts are linked and I transferred miles into it to create a balance while they try to complete the merge.

You may want to MP Shannon directly, and remove your OP number from that post stat. Posting it on a public forum, as friendly as we may be, is a huge security risk. You don't want to lose all your miles, now, do you?
