MilePoint is taking off on an exciting launch campaign, and we can't do it alone. In less than a week the doors will open, and new members will be joining us. The success of the community depends on these new members feeling welcome and being able to find the information they’re looking for—or figure out where to ask their questions. So, we are asking for a small number of volunteers to help in a few key areas during the launch period as MilePoint Guides. Volunteers will have an excellent attitude and be willing to help new members. Additionally, we will select this small group with such considerations as areas of expertise (we'll need someone who can assist members of oneworld, Star Alliance, SkyTeam, etc), geography (think Destination Travel), and award availability among many others topics. Our goal is to have a small team that, when put together, will be able to cover all 24 hours (25, if we can squeeze it in) of the day helping our new members find their way. This will be a temporary position for the first few months of MilePoint. A MilePoint Guide will exemplify the very best of MilePoint, a welcoming community dedicated to helping everyone get the most out their time here. If this sounds like you, please send an e-mail to guide@milepoint.com, or start a conversation here with "MilePoint Guide". We'll do our best to review all the submissions as quick as we can. Since this is a small team for a temporary assignment, if you're not selected we'll also hold onto your submission for future volunteer oportunities in the next few months. And for this, the word Guide is a very apt description. Thanks. ** if sending via email, please include your member name from Milepoint. Thanks.
Great idea ... and while I cannot officially volunteer due to other constraints, rest assured I will be out there doing my best to help new members feel welcome and pointing them to locations they need to go, and sharing information they need to see. But official guides (great title BTW) is a superb idea!
I would love to be a Guide, but probably in the future when you need someone to help with destinations like the Caribbean, Florida, etc. as that is where my experience lies.
Randy, I would have loved to help but I'll be traveling almost the entire month of March. Probably that excludes me as this is when help is likely to be needed most?
You should use the conversation function on the site to apply (more testing) Check your conversation inbox, Randy
I am too busy and travel too much (even now) to make a committment, but I think that having "temporary" assignments is a wonderful way to avoid some of the cliquey problems that ensue when people get to deeply ensconced into their roles. Sounds like you have learned a lot over the years and that is a very good thing.
I'd gladly help but I think my existing commitments over on "the other site" preclude me. Which seems a shame really.
Point me toward where assistance is needed, however I think I would prefer to remain without title here for the time being.
Havent' heard anything. Don't know what to make of it, but seemed like they needed people, and not many replied to help.
same here, didn't hear anything. Hope my e-mail didn't get spamblocked and blackholed; I should have used conversation instead.
as noted, my attention was on the actual launch. we'll certainly now take a good look at those interested in helping, looking at any overlaps, etc. another day of organization on milepoint and then attention will turn to this. certainly thanks for your continued interest.
Happy to help where I can. I guess my best expertise is on Japan, London, California (including LA and SF), NYC, upper end Hyatt hotels, some other luxury hotel areas, and random other things. I am not sure what it means to be a guide, but I'll try to post helpful stuff on the topics I know regardless of whether or not any title is involved.
