In the last few days, we really closed the gap between actual monthly total and our goal of $3.25M. For the month, we are at almost $360K, our third biggest month ever! (For us to have reached $3.25M, we needed to lend almost $400K!)

    I stand corrected!

Our final tally for June 2012 is in the range of $367K and a total of $3.22M! While that may not be off much from above, I should note that this was our SECOND best lending month, surpassing October 2011 when we had our first MoneyBomb.

Congrats team, you have done a stellar job this month in lending!

In light of our teams physical growth by 30% new members it is hopeful that the newbies become active in Kiva with our team. This could translate in the team continuing to set the bar for lending amongst all Kiva teams. It is important to continue to keep Kiva informed when, individually and team wide, we are disappointed by their faux pas. E.g., open marketplace and having Bob Harris as a moderator in a conference call.

Actually I think Kiva's biggest faux pas is letting anyone be a lender. They do extensive background checks on the field partners and the field partners carefully choose their borrowers.
But there are no standards for lenders which results in the likes of myself, tondoleo, fcjapan, etc. spreading delinquency, cashing in our chips, failing to clean the stalls, spouting bad jokes, giving advice as if they know something and otherwise making nuisances of ourselves.
That's where Kiva's real problems lie - with the lenders

Kiva does have standards for lenders. If your CC or bank account can provide them with money for loans you are in. Perhaps your suggestion should be considered by the Captains of Team MP. They must regret allowing you, me, fcj, jbc, milchap and some others to be on the team and post here. Unless, Al only allows us to read each other's posts and protects the remainder of the milepoint community from them by blocking them out. It seems that the same folks respond to and like our drivel in the Kiva forums. I will have to test my theory by logging out and re-entering anonymously to see if it is true.

Lenders who are passionate about the cause and are ferocious in their allegiance to microlending......thus the pointed questions about Kiva's strategic direction.

Kiva probably never anticipated our antics. :D and we will not be silent, :p

Unfortunately there are a number of MP team members who have never loaned at all. Some of them seem to have other reasons for joining Kiva, that are not at all compatible with the Kiva mission. Like ads in their personal profile for "dating"...

If a Kiva member has not loaned within a reasonable timeframe, their membership in the team should be revoked. Many organizations purge inactive accounts.

I can't see why anyone would go through the trouble to register an account, join teams and then never loan.

Was there a promo from Randy early on that you just had to join the team? I can't remember.

Was that one of the ipad promotions?

But there are some people that have lots and lots of teams, but no loans. I think that is weird.

Some people join just to send out messages promoting something or other.
I'm sure that many folks joined our team just to be eligible for one of our promos last year.
Some people join and then just forget.
It doesn't strike me as particularly strange behavior. I have created accounts at certain websites and then never returned.

These folks probably respond to a colleagues request or they are dummy accounts created to pad a team's numbers.

I suspect we all do. Some of them are just gawkers, probably, and some are thinking a long time before lending. Others are just plain weird, as you say,.

I suspect that some join with good intentions and then for a variety of reasons don't follow through. Others may find the sheer choice of loans overwhelming and suffer paralysis.

On the other side of the ledger, I noticed a few months ago a Team Canada member who made her first loan after a year on Kiva. I don't know why it took so long, and it's not my business, but I was glad to see her finally make a loan. Moral of the story, we just don't know other peoples' circumstances.

I almost did, but deferred for a manly handshake as I was still a bit queazy from post-food poisoning nausea! :p

You'll get a hug if you still want! One day I will make it Miami!

Great month last month, and we almost reached our goal!

July will be slower, I guess.
