I'm not sure I don't know if I would call this bungled just yet. IF the points don't show up, then it's been bungled. Patience. We are all "possibly" getting something for free. My Hilton stays (4) have all posted correctly to my DM within a day or 2 of my stay. Do they show up in your HH account?
I would definitely start tracking it down then. I've always had them post to my DM account quite quickly.
I've noticed that the BankDirect referrals I have requested have not gone through yet and my e-mail provider has been flaky the last couple of days as well. There could be something going on the Internet that hasn't been said yet, so I'd recommend patience all around. If US is really rewarding almost its entire FF database with 1000 miles, it could be a long process. How many DM accounts do they have? Unfortunately I don't have the e-mail saved and I don't recall that they said it could take a while for them to post. The "we immediately posted" tone of the e-mail does concern me and I wonder if this is all really related to the Epsilon breach. Whether it is a fake e-mail or it was crafted in response to it is another question. Has anyone heard from US about it? I can't check Twitter or Facebook, and I imagine they're busy fielding a ton of customer calls about why the points haven't posted (still haven't as of yet).
Called USAir @3PM ET...yes, the rep confirmed the offer is legit. He said the miles "should post to your account this day." Meaning today (Tuesday). YMMV.
I'll add my $.02 worth too... I received the e-mail and have not noticed any miles deposited either. I'm a CP and have the Juniper card.
I got the email today - 1000 free miles too. What's interesting, is I now have 13,390 miles. There's really nothing to do with them except get free magazines (And I'm getting 5 subscriptions right now). I still occasionally fly US Airways, but only using my CO plat number in the reservation.
US Air dares to use my screen name in their emails, and doesn't send me anything! I'll either have to sue them or smile at them! Such a difficult choice?
Just need a few more. They occasionally have mile saver redemptions like this one below. Miles reduced to 15K for a quick weekend getaway. http://www.usairways.com/en-US/dividendmiles/milesaver.html
Thanks, but I have already retained Mr. Howe, Esq. of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe. He is on my case and will be demanding restitution in the millions. In fact, after I win this open and shut case, I will have so many US Air miles that I will be giving them anyway. Special consideration will be given to MPers who give me lots of likes.
A poster on FT indicates they called and were told they would post "today" which I assume meant April 5th. Only a few hours left for that in the western time zones. I also got a response from my nastygram email. The only issue they addressed was these miles and their response at 5:34pm Phoenix time was that they'd post within 24 hours.
They're rolling through now. At least one FT'er got them and they're also in my wife's account. None for me or my mom yet - not too concerned about hers since she'll go from 0 to 1000. Woohoo. Posts like this: 4/4/2011 04/05/11 CUSTOMER APPRECIATION BONUS 1,000
I have no idea if this is related, but 1,000 miles just showed up on my account for no obvious reason at all. I never got this "miles make you smile" email either. 4/4/2011 04/05/11 CUSTOMER APPRECIATION BONUS 1,000
I find it really curious that they are giving away 1,000 miles for nothing and there are still people annoyed because they didn't post fast enough.
I tend to disagree. US tends to have decent ways to accumulate 1,000- 2,000 miles at a crack with a car rental (Alamo, Dollar, Thrifty- none of which blow up your rate when you use a code the same way Avis or Hertz do), SPG transfers to them at 1:1 (unlike UA/CO, which transfers at 2:1). Plus you can often buy miles to top off for less than 2 cents per mile, and their mileage promotion (Grand Slam) was much better than CO's (Mileathon) the times I've compared them the last couple of years. Once you have a decent sized pile of miles, if you can get past the phone representatives being kind of clueless to the ones who are clueful, their *A award redemptions are among the best you can find: North America-North Asia premium class awards with routing over both oceans (read: mini-RTW when you take a stopover in Europe), and reduced mileage requirements compared to UA/CO on a number of awards. I think US is a fine program to accumulate in on the side, even if it's not your primary program, and then, every so often, cash out. If you were an intermittent *A flyer who wasn't going to hit a status level, but might have a flight or three every year + some car rentals, hotel stuff and so on to send that way, it's not a bad program- they hand out bonus miles a lot more often than CO/UA, as we can see from this thread.
