I've always thought it was clever of MP to have status and point system, since we're all so invested in alternative currencies and elite levels around here. Now, I've recently hit MP Gold. Not sure exactly when - no email, just a new subhead. But, my question is, is this a lifetime Gold? Or will I have to requalify every so often? Do points erode over time?
Great! That's American and MP now. Just need an SPG one now (never gonna happen for me). I'll just lay back and enjoy the ad-free experience!
Congrats, shizz-nitzel! autolycus is going to jump straight to gold when he grows up. I'm plodding right along.
And I think you've got the time and just need a few more days or weeks of socializing to get enough posts and likes... I think I hit 1k points at around 400 posts. Maybe it was 500... There were big bonuses at the 1.5k, 2k, 2.5k and 3k likes marks... anywhere from 150 to 500 points.
You are definitely swimming in likes. So it takes points plus age - I don't think I've seen the age component in any other program, but I guess it would just be too ready for abuse if that check wasn't in place.
For both SPG and Lufthansa, though, years at an elite level qualify you for lifetime. So you need to re-qualify each year for that status. Here, you need x amount of time to get Gold to begin with, and then you have it for a lifetime.
True. Total years in a program at any level would be a different standard. Now I'm gonna go back to my corner of "Active Member"-dom before I get too jealous of your gold status.
Just having fun in the social forums... The likes per post are excellent over there too. But to really be in awe, you should check out the post total for miles and smiles and some of the others who have been around a year and active the whole time. 10k+ posts in just over a year! I'm on pace for less than half that.
Another big difference between the MP point program and most others: the veil of secrecy. We really don't have a list of what, exactly, gives us points, AFAIK. Clearly, # of posts, # of likes, sure (although I haven't found a list stating X points at Y posts or anything). But some descriptions are pretty obscure and make me think that they also count things like when others quote your posts, or how much traffic and posts you get on threads you've started.
Well, there's that mystery Platinum status that no one has achieved yet. Maybe the system could give him that.
Yeah, I apparently have too much free time on my hands (and the contests to win a seat on the mega dos didn't help either).
You get points for posts, likes and length of time. The only mystery is how many points and at what level. You can click on anyone's name, then click on their points total and see what points they have received. You won't get every detail, but you will have a sense. After 10K likes, you don't get anymore points for likes. You also stop getting points once you hit a certain number of posts. I think it's 15k, but I'm not there yet. There are actually many people on MP who have far more posts and likes than I do. There are folks with over 100K in both categories.
