http://www.jal.co.jp/jmb/project2012/index_en.html JAL has just announced a new state-of-art full-flat business class seats will be gradually rolled out from early 2013. No design details. No roll out dates and routes yet. Details will be announced soon though
i have a feeling it might be LHR that is getting the new seats first this time Unless they want to deploy the older 773 to the US routes
That's a given. US and European routes aren't part of the 50% discount and they have specifically said key US and Europe routes, meaning JFK, ORD, LAX, LHR, CDG and FRA BUT CGK will get it too because it shares the same aircraft with the US routes. SO that's the good deal out of this lol
http://www.beaerospace.com/products/seating_business_class.htm Hopefully B/E Aerospace manufacturer for skyshell, shell flat and neo has something better in mind or JAL has picked another manufacturer. Most JAL premium seats are designed by GKID http://www.gkid.co.jp/portfolio/public-transportation/index.html
But how much seat reduction we are talking about here? Are they really going for a super fancy C seat? CX can fit 53 J seats from behind F to L3. JAL currently has two more rows behind L3 with 77 NEO seats in W82 config. So With a similar design, JAL will be able to fit 61 C seats, that is 16 less seats IF they decide not to reduce the PY cabin. I have the feeling that PY isn't working out for JAL and ANA. If they reduce the PY cabin size by 50%, they can probably fit in 2 more rows so C cabin size would reduce by 8 seats only...why do we need such a big elite program overhaul for this? We can deal with having 8 less seats to redeem per flight And if you compare with W73 used on European routes, they only have 63 C seats onboard. That's hardly any reduction if they use similar config as CX CX 77D config
Well Qantass are in the same boat i guess. 2013 is still a while away but i guess you'll be saving all your miles to redeem on the new C right?
