The new International Termianl at ATL was orginally scheduled to open 4.15.2012. However, incorrect paperwork associated with the concessions sub contractors my push back the opening to an unspecified date: Complete article from AJC: http://www.ajc.com/business/airport-concessions-proposals-tossed-1155180.html
And unfortunately this means that it will take longer for me to get my Varsity fix while waiting for my flight
Damn! I'm in DEN and you had to bring up the Varsity....I'll be thinking about a dog all-the-way and a FO the rest of the day......
Its kind of a requirement. Spent a few years out of state and had it whenever I cam into town. I had to make do with the Chicken Biscuits from Time Out in Chapel Hill (Still some of the best biscuits I've ever had)
I'm looking forward to the new terminal...hope they have a SkyClub to help ease the craziness at the two in the E Concourse during the peak TATL departures!
I honestly see the new terminal being where all non-SkyTeam airlines are pushed to, since those are definitely O&D only routes. That would give DL room to add 2 more SkyClubs to E (The BA and LH lounges)

ATL's Int'l Terminal is scheduled to open mid May... http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/despite-wrangling-city-sees-1307173.html
I haven't seen any updates since this one, but I admit to not reading the AJC very often. Has anybody run across any new photos of the interior or any other new information about the grand opening?
ATL has an International Terminal website with a virtual rendering in video format.... http://www.atlanta-airport.com/internationalterminal/
Thanks. I'd seen that one. Looks like it could look great inside or really cheesy. I guess we won't know till it opens. I'm a little disappointed with the way it sounds like MARTA is being handled for ATL destined passengers, but I don't think there's really a great option anyway.
I agree, the virtual rendering makes it difficult to determine the true nature of the final product. Unfortunately, with airport terminals in the US they are not lankmarks of design these days due to budget limitations. However, the redesign of ATL's old North and South terminals a few years ago turned out very good I thought. They had to use the old bones, but really gave the spaces a great facelift with new surfaces and the addition of a lot of natrual light. So I guess creative designers can produce a very nice, functional space with limited $$$$. That's what I'm hoping for with the International Terminal anyway.

When I was there last month the old B/E club was closed for renovations, everyone from the two was squeezed into the old CRC. The plan was, upon completion of those renovations, to merge the two into one much larger space.
From the last report I saw, the renovation of the first lounge is complete and now the 2nd one is underway. I want to say that the timetable is for the merged lounge to be open by the end of March, but I could be remembering wrong. That'll end up being a month or two before the Int'l Terminal is open. Having a double-sized lounge plus the new one in F will probably be much nicer than the current arrangements.
Any word on which of the food vendors that just won their contracts will be opening at F? I imagine there will be at least one full-service place and a small food court?
