Is LH413 (EWR-MUC) equipped with this new A346 yet?

According to Lufthansa, there is only 2-3 of the A340's which is retrofitted as of yet. Copied from an e-mail I received... : " The D-AIHT is the first one to be equip...ped for now whereby a total of 2 aircrafts of the A340 range are undergoing the retrofitting. The process will then continue in winter 2011/12 with another expected 9-12 aircrafts....."

I have a MUC-DXB tomorrow night in F - Lufthansa friend gave me a window seat second row. I wonder what chances I get a new refitted cabin?

It would be wonderful as this is a birthday trip. I hope luck will be coming my way.

I know I have a refitted 747 F cabin on the flight back to Frankfurt window with the seat and the bed- I hope they will not change it!!

    :)

How do you know you have the new F on the 747? LH assigns only 8 seats on the 747 whether new or old F, for old F you just get 2 seats rather than a seat and bed.

Not much chance I'm afraid. There's only one MUC-based 346 with the new F at present and it's flying to EWR most days.

If you were assigned a window seat, then you have the old F since the new seat is on the aisle and the bed is by the window.

Got D-ABVC yesterday from FRA-IAD so finally experienced the new F cabin and seats/bed. (Makes up somewhat for the sked change that never got the reno'd A346 on my FRA-ICN flight last week where it was supposed to be.) Actually, since it was a daytime flight and I was not tired, did not try the bed...just used it to spread my papers and other items out on. Very handy, and good storage drawer under the bed. (A few passengers did stretch out though.) Also, the reduction from 16 to 8 passengers also resulted in the closing of one of the two washrooms to passengers, the forward one is now on the other side and part of the crew suite: beds on the left, seats on the right.

Found the seat comfortable, but given it does not fully recline, LH should have included a massage function. Also, leg unit does not stretch out as far as older models so those with long legs are going to be somewhat uncomfortable not having their feet supported (the metal bar unit does not extend far enough).

Another major, major design flaw is the electrical plug area. It is slightly recessed into the chair frame, but unfortunately this means that Apple power blocks cannot be inserted since there's a gap of a few millimetres! The only solution I came to was to insert one of my European plug adaptors into the unit, then my Apple power block into it. The smaller power block from my iPad/iPod was okay, but the MacBook/MacBookPro ones are larger and heavier and just fall out. How could LH have made such a bungle since most of its advertising features MacBookPros when they show laptops being used.

Bathroom is pretty much the same which is too bad. LH could have made it a bit larger to facilitate changing into/out of sleeper suits. Most other airlines have much larger, more modern F washrooms. (Even TK's C washrooms put LH's F washroom to shame!)

There's a new sleep suit/sweater/slippers with a grey colour scheme which I guess is now the standard when flying with the new F, be it on the A380, the B744/747-8 or the A346. Ties in with the Porsche Design amenity kit, the contents of which is the same as the Bognar ones.

Otherwise, I was not overly impressed. I am finding the menus too fancy and lack anything I'm really interested in eating. Let's get back to roasts of lamb and lobster instead of these chichi chef's selections! Wines pretty unexciting.

    Thanks for the informative post!

Can you give an example of the new offerings on the menu?

Do any of the A343s have the new first interior?

Are either the LAX-FRA (744) or LAX-MUC (346) flights using the new LH F? If not, is there a timetable for the roll out on this route?

We've had two FRA based flight the last few months and this week we flew ORD-MUC. The cabin was 6/8 on a 343 and of course the old F, which is fine with the new padding. It appears the MUC based aircraft is not loaded with the padding, so they don't make up your bed. So the seat is a lot more uncomfortable to sleep in. Not liking the inconsistency, because the padding makes a big difference.

Another couple of observations: No nice amenity kit, it was a cheap plastic bag for males. The female set was the normal ones. They also ran out of pajamas, but the creative crew saved the day by giving me a day flight light blue xl from the outbound and the L pants fit fine. They probably failed severly in loading our particular flight.

No padding on A343 in general.... there is no place to store it :(
  4. FlyIce Silver Member

    No, I had it on a FRA-EWR.
It's stored in the big drawer below the seat, together with the blanket.

In the old F seat? That drawer barely fits the regular F blanket, an additional C blanket and some misc stuff...

I love all the pics. Any updates on conversion status? I'm flying LH F FRA-DEN in mid-June on a 346.
