New Mileage Plus Club credit card will have smart chip, 1.5 miles per dollar

Probably outdated by the time it arrives. Also, if it comes via Fedex or UPS, it's a hassle for me to get it as they presumably/hopefully won't just drop it on my porch while I am at work. Much prefer those "neutral" looking envelopes that USPS delivers.

Picked up one of those "free for the first year" codes at a UC. Applied and instantly approved. Sweet.

I have the card, and it IS heavy metal, same as sapphire preferred card. They almost look the same with same shade of blue, except for the logos. Both have card number printed on the back and only name appears on the front.

question - has anyone been able to get the free for first year offer combined with the refund of unused portion of club membership for current united club members? I was told I could not, so I only have the $95 statement credit offer in order to get most of my club membership refunded.

Found a phone-book sized box on my porch that UPS left there. My United Club Visa card.

Mine arrived today too. Impressive stack that went directly into recycling. I don't see the utility of publishing that huge glossy Luxury Hotel book. Pretty wasteful.

Happy to have the UC membership though, especially for the price of $0.
